Fan Jin Fei
A prominent courtier during the time of Emperor Zou and later Emperor Su Chao. Jin Fei's parents died during the Ascension. Jin Fei and her brother Fan You Qian were richly rewarded for their parents' loyalty. Zou elevated their status and gave them access to scholarly studies. Extremely clever and just as callous, Jin Fei in particular became a formiddable force at Zou's court. She developed an intense rivalry with Du Rui Sheng, and plotted constantly to bring about the downfall of her and her father, Du Qian Men.
When Emperor Zou created new ranks in the government, opening a powerful position in the Censorate, Jin Fei immediately sought to gain it. Her plotting led to the Standoff at Jiliang, and, the following year, the Du family's desperate bid for survival by starting the War of Eternal Day.
After the war, which resulted in the death of her brother, Jin Fei's rivalry towards Rui Sheng turned to hatred of her, the Zhang Family, and the Gaos. She fed Emperor Su Chao's paranoia of these powerful families, and did her best to prevent the Zhangs from reforming the Cold Wolf Sect.
