Rheis Mehnot
Centuria Rheis Mehnot- Abellion
Rheis is the youngest offspring of Belvran Avallenos. Like his siblings he is a genetic clone of his father, though his environment shapes him into someone distinct from his elder brothers Avalach and Cimbelin. His foster mother was Fluria, his father's ambactos.
He is a textbook lord knight, educated in all manners of warfare, diplomacy, foreign policies, and administration of property. He was betrothed to Marlene Mehnot when she was an up-and-coming soldier from a prominent Eskern family. Rheis as the youngest brother and "last in line" (so he claims) was by far the most desperate for attention and success, something which was thankfully tempered when Marlene became the Governor of Eskern.
After Cymbeline's death, Rheis made a strong case for absorbing Abellion Orchards into Eskern (and thus, the Heno Territories) but he was not popular among the Myacoris who saw him as power hungry and narrow-minded. A rumour that Rheis was behind the arson attack was started to disrupt the proceedings, followed by Onomaris insiting that Avalach foster her remaining children. There is animosity toward Rheis in the valley to this day, but much of it is simply due to personal issues rather than policy.
Rheis only sticks his hand back in to the orchards when Avalach is presumed dead, but once he gets his hands on it he finds it hard not to mess around. Marlene is often his voice of reason, and one of the few people who he listens to. Rheis is very insecure and finds it difficult to accept criticism from anyone but his wife and children, who he feels are "stuck with him".
Thus, although Rheis is a difficult person to get along with, he has a more nuanced understanding of matters such as kinship, sociology, and general animal behavior- many of which he later writes about and become distributed among religious circles.
