Lake Weird
Lake Weird is a lake system in Eskern East, bordering Pestilentia and the coast.
What are your non-earth-like geographical features in your setting?
- The lake originates from a tectonic rift and the subsequent tension which is slowly pulling the land mass apart, which is where the dense peat bog
- There are risks of limnic eruptions which release bursts of dissolved gasses, including CO2, methane, nitrous oxide, and oxygen - hence it being a rift and one of the few sources of Hagsbreath
- Hydrothermal Vents which are directional outposts leading through the theme park to the Outpost, it these are only accessible through the Jellow King building.
What’s the general “lay of the land” of your active worldbuilding area?
- Phelgmatic Peatland ecosystem
- Large, seemingly shallow lake system and fenland - it is technically a system of smaller lakes and fenlands that are fed by floodmeadows, tidal surges, and small rivers
- Many islands which seem to disappear and reappear as the land (and fog) shifts
- Many capes and peninsulas
What is the climate or environment like, in your active worldbuilding area?
- Humid, hot summers and mild winters
- Thick atmosphere full of toxic gases and decomposing matter
- The centre parts of the lake are anoxic, but the coasts and banks are highly diverse
What is the ecosystem & habitat like in your active worldbuilding area?
- The coasts and banks of the lake have extreme endemism due to the unique environment that is not found in any other Phelgmatic terrain, and thus it is one of the best places to use Sided Magic
- There are a lot of magnolia and cypress groves around it, with small amounts of laurel and beech.
- This is one of the places where the Prydydd live - these are beings who became consumed by the Peat bogs and merged with Coriniaid or Saesonaid - becoming "Flesh Oil", and thus an offshoot and preservation of the Milenakos before them and the early Nachkoma
Finally, what natural resources are found in your active worldbuilding area?
- The lake contains:
- Heavy Metals - lead. arsenic, cinnabar (quicksilver),
- Citron - Wyldefruit, Bogstone
- Flint - Quartz
- Brimstone - Straiv, Hagsbreath, Nuivre
- Brine - Salt, Tincal,
- Oil - Flesh Oil (Pryddyd), Fish Oil, Fossils
