Ghoul Gloves
Ghoul Gloves - gloves which soak the hands in formalin.
How rare is it?
- The materials used themselves are not rare
- Due to the craftsmanship involved, they are often rare and special finds
- Generally made for a person's individual hand shape, so they are not easy to resell/reuse
What does the item do? How does it work?
- The glove is used to generate torches, and can propagate bakelite candles
- These candles/torches are poisonous however
- They are also often containing ports which cycle formalin through the body and saturate the hands
- In the case of emergency, they can be broken down and made into truth pearls
- The reason few end up being preserved is because there's no resell value aside from mining cheap truth pearls from them, and they often aren't as effective
- They're also called "Truth Gloves" and are used as recreational purposes as well as in crude interrogations
- If they are removed, the formalin-soaked hands of the wearer usually contains enough formalin to subdue an enemy. They are a multi-purpose tool used specifically by the Order of Bloodwoad.
What’s the history of this item?
- These were originally a technology devised by Coriniaid, who would cast the hands of corpses to give to young Coriniaid
- They were made from concentrated formalin, which Coriniaid (and some of the Milenakos species they follow) have a tolerance to, which becomes a resinous material when heated
- The Myacoris who hung around the Coriniaid pools and tar pits, would collect these casts and use them as resources
- Theoretically these gloves can be made from other elements which can create a resin cast, but formalin is the most widely used.
What’s this item made of?
- It is made of resin extracted from formalin, similar to Bakelite
- It is tailored specifically to users of Citron lithomancy
- They are often decorated with other metals such as jewels, amplifying minerals, and other accessories.
- The Ghoul Gloves of powerful members of the Court of Woad and Blood are kept as relics
