Sempervirentis
Still reeling from a thirty-year Arcane war, the War of Countless Faces (1445-1478), where members of various cults and organisations attempted to seize control of the city, Sempervirentis is but a shadow of its former glory. Parts of the east and southern areas of the city lay in ruins, the Quarter of Rest is overrun by Undead, and much of the Traders' Way leading to the city in both directions is no longer patrolled.
But that does not prevent the city from being one of the most desirable visiting locations in the world, in part because of the legendary Schola Arcana, and the Great Curtanan Weave Well.
The Schola Arcana, a school of magic that stands above a powerful Weave Well (a place where the Weave is able to manifest itself in a semi-physical form and source of great power), remains intact after the war, as does Castle Semper and the Old Town District. Access to the Schola Arcana is strictly controlled, though the Schola does have a publicly accessible information hub or library where non-Initiates can request information, for a price. The continued existence of the Schola after more than 30 years of being largely cut off from the rest of the world makes Sempervirentis a mecca for those with an interest in Arcane Magic, as well as students of military history.
The city is ruled by the Lord Protector, Melchior Angevin, supported by the Lord-Captain of Sempervirentis, Dalkyn Mallos.
Government
Sempervirentis is governed by the Lord Protectorate, a semi-democratic entity led by the Lord-Protector and supported by the Lord-Captain.
Political movements and parties form as Protectorate Candidate Parties, and stand at elections which are held every four years, with the most recent having been held in 1486.
Candidate Parties nominate Lord-Protector and Lord-Captain candidates amongst their party members, and the movements then hold their own votes as to who should take these seats. Those voted into those roles then become the official leaders of their Protectorate Candidate Party.
Citizens of the city who are Of Age (18 in most cases) are entitled to vote for the Party (and by extension, Lord-Protector and Lord-Captain) that they wish to run the city. Lord-Protector Angevin has been in his position for twelve years, since the death of the last Lord-Protector toward the end of the War of Countless Faces. Angevin leads the Common Aristocrats Party for Sempervirentis, assisted by Dalkyn Mallos.
Defences
The city is walled on three sides and borders the river on the fourth, but many of the defensive structures surrounding the city are in a bad state of repair since the end of the war. Reconstruction efforts are in place, with plans for larger ditches, spiked repellers and palisades being drawn up. Additionally, the magical defences of the Schola Arcana are being considered for extension.
Industry & Trade
Having been cut off from primary trade routes for thirty years, Sempervirentis is still recovering its status as a trade city. Its main exports currently are magical items crafted by the Schola Arcana, which also serves as a major education establishment. This brings in trade in the form of short-term rentals, when non-residents come to stay at the city in order to study or research at the Schola Arcana.

Castle Semper, Central District
The successor to Evergreen Fort when it became the magic school, Castle Semper is the home of the City Protectorate and houses a large portion of the city's official records.
Viren Park, Old Town

Temple of Many Gods, Medway Run
After the destruction of Quarter of Rest, a religious archive and museum dedicated to the True A'arden Pantheon set itself up as a Temple for all Pantheons. It has expanded over the course of the war, despite regular assaults on the nearby area, and remains the primary location for prayer and worship in Sempervirentis, as well as guarding the main gateway into the Hive.
City Prison, Fauld's Gallows
City Prison is the largest prison in Sempervirentis, holding the most heinous criminals.
Semper Court, Fauld's Gallows
The home of the active Judicial System in Sempervirentis, Semper Court was built in order to minimise disruption to other governmental duties when courts were in session at Castle Semper.
Tourism
Major tourist attractions in the city include the Schola Arcana and the Temple of Many Gods due to the magical and religious influences of the establishments. Many people from across the world petition to visit the city so that they can witness the Schola Arcana in particular, which is famed for the massive Weave Well located beneath it. Many scholars desire to study the Well, but it is highly protected and remains in a state of partial lockdown, despite the War having ended.
