Neyon Vihan
Senior Guardsman Neyon Rowan Vihan (a.k.a. Sterling)
Neyon Vihan is a Changeling Cosmic Witch employed by the Noble House of Fenbrook as a member of the First Branch House Guard. He is a frequent Mentor to Candidate and Cadet Guardsmen, as well as a Witchcraft Mentor to all House employees, and a specialist in Runic, Ritual, and Arcane Magics. Originally from part of North-West Eirinn called Coille Ciaradh an Iar, known in Common as the West Whisperwood, Neyon was born into a Witch Coven-Village where he was something of an outcast due to his Path. He chose to leave after receiving a vision of a star flying southward amongst constellations that created symbols he had never seen before.
Neyon's most common Codename has two possible meanings, depending on the origin; Old Common "little star", and Fey Sylvan "place of strife".
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Neyon is considered tall for a Changeling, standing at six feet tall in his Natural Form. He is long-limbed and agile, with impressive flexibility and dexterity.
Body Features
While Neyon has no natural body markings as a Changeling, he bears a glittering scar on the inside of his left wrist, marking him as a Chosen of Sileas. He generally hides this scar underneath a bandage.
When in a Mask, this scar is usually hidden by his transformation.
Facial Features
Neyon has black eyes that feature a cosmic blue-green shimmer, and a black, mask-like marking across his eyes that extends around to colour the tips of his ears.
Identifying Characteristics
In his natural form, Neyon can generally be identified by the scar on his wrist and the unusual shimmer within his eyes. However, when wearing a Mask, it can be difficult to distinguish him from whoever he is impersonating.
Special abilities
As a Cosmic Witch, Neyon has a natural affinity for the stars, the passage of time, and for Fate. His blessings from Sileas allow him to "see more than would naturally be seen", thus he has Darkvision when others of his heritage do not. Neyon also has a habit of "slipping through timelines", where he can see the past, present, and possible futures without meaning to.
His Confidant is Realta Starfang, a Starfang Class Cosmic Guardian. Neyon is powerful enough to be able to hide Realta's true nature behind a Dual Seal; most Cosmic Guardians only employ a single Seal when keeping their powers intact. This Dual Seal allows Realta to appear as a harmless starry otter; a form most often taken by Starbrace-type Cosmic Guardians, thus making Realta, and by extension, Neyon, appear less powerful than they truly are.
Neyon is thought to have one of the largest Mana Pools in known history, and his mastery over his Changeling shapeshifting abilities is thought to be highly developed. He can subtly shift individual parts of his body without taking on a complete Mask, so can, for example, mimic the voices of others even while in his Natural Form. Additionally, his shifts from one form to another can be near instantaneous, though he generally forces himself to shift more slowly as the change can make observers feel uncomfortable. Neyon is particularly adept at mimicking the High Lord, the Captain-Commander of the House Guard, and the High Lord's three sons, and he is registered as their Warranted Body Double.
Specialized Equipment
Neyon is proficient in Chained Kamas, an exotic-type weapon rarely seen outside of specialised Spiritualist schools. His Chained Kamas are magical in that he can control the length and directionality of the kamas and chains with the support of his thoughts. The chains have a maximum length of 60ft, though control of them past 30ft is significantly more difficult. The chains are kept in a magical repository crafted with an extra-dimensional space within, which allows Neyon to extend and retract the chains at will.

Personal history
Neyon was born in Winterwane of 1421, to Amyra and Ayken Vihan; his mother was a prominent member of the Coven while his father was an accomplished Ranger who helped to defend the Coven's lands. However, Neyon's father died when he was only a few months old, leaving him to be raised by his mother alone.
Neyon came into his Vocation far younger than any other Witch in known history, showing an affinity for Witchcraft at the age of four and for Cosmic Witchcraft specifically at the age of six. As most Witches only begin presenting their Vocation at age ten, he was considered an anomaly, and a particularly dangerous one at that. His affinity for Cosmic Witchcraft saw him labelled as an outsider, even amongst his Coven, as Cosmic Witchcraft was viewed with negativity and suspicion, and classified as dangerous.
Neyon was almost killed aged six, when another of the Coven's children intentionally fired a slingshot at him, striking him in the head and sending him falling into a crevasse. He was rescued, but only thanks to his Confidant, Realta, who brought his mother to his location. Realta bound himself to Neyon that day, making Neyon the youngest Pathbound Witch in history, and has been by his side ever since.
The first twenty-six years of Neyon's life were rather lonely, and he spent much of his time hidden away in secluded locations or studying potioncraft at his mother's home. However, in 1447 Neyon left the Coven under the guidance of a dream, a southbound star with symbols he had never seen before in the sky. He travelled southward alone, eventually collapsing on the trail in the Southern Stonemoors in Curtana. He was found by Master Courier of the House, Aerlon Fallowwell, who carried him back to Fuldair so that he could recover at the High Lord's estate.
Gender Identity
As a Changeling, Neyon is able to adjust his gender at will. However, he shows a preference toward male gendering, and his Natural Form reflects this preference. He chooses to identify as predominantly male using He/They pronouns.
Sexuality
For a long time, it was believed that Neyon was aromantic asexual, as he did not show interest in building intimate connections. However, it was later revealed that this was simply his way of dealing with a personal "revelation" from his Goddess; that there was no Soul in the A'arden Cosmology destined for him, and that his bloodline was fated to die with him.
However, after the Night of the Violet Stars, Souls who were not from A'arde found their way to the Cosmology, and Neyon's Fate was rewritten. Since then he has identified as Demisexual (for lack of a more appropriate term), though he has only had one romantic partner.
Education
As with all Witches born into a Coven, Neyon's earliest education was deeply rooted in the fundamentals of Witchcraft and the Arcane Weave. Even amongst Witches, he is considered something of a genius in Arcane Weavecraft, and is a specialist in both the theory and practice of Runic, Ritual, and Arcane Magics. He also studied basic practical medicine but rarely utilised it.
After arriving at the House, he furthered his education with history, mathematics, psychology, fatalism, and astrology. He speaks seven languages fluently (eight if you count Fey and Border Sylvan as separate languages) and is learning two more. He is also fluent in three additional written languages, which are predominantly used for sigils and rune-based magic. Neyon is highly educated in General Witchcraft, herbalism, and herb-based potion-making.
Employment
While at his Coven, Neyon predominantly supported his Mother in her daily tasks. Due to his Path, he was never offered any official opportunities to hold any specific role within the Coven.
After arriving at the House, he initially acted in an Advisory capacity, helped by his deep connection with Fate and the Stars. After spending three years working in this capacity, Neyon made the decision to join the House Guard, so that he could be better placed to assist his Lord with whatever duties were placed upon him. He was Validated as a House Guardsman in 1452, but turned down several opportunities for promotion until finally accepting the role of Senior Guardsman in 1469. His reasons for waiting so long were summed up in his own words as "it's not yet the right time", and due to his affinity with Fate, nobody bothered to question it.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Neyon is credited as the mastermind and lead asset behind the restitution of the Midnight Steel, commandeering it from the Impound Dock and returning it to the hands of its original crew prior to the People's Revolt of Fuldair.
Mental Trauma
Neyon spent the first two and a half decades of his life as an outcast among his own people, who feared him for the Path that he was destined to take. This caused him to have an extremely low sense of self worth, making him work hard in order to be deemed "acceptable".
The knowledge that he was going to die alone also caused him a great deal of internal turmoil, though he rarely voiced this aloud. In fact, the knowledge of his Fate led him to be careless with his own wellbeing, as he "knew he was going to live anyway" and therefore saw little need to worry about injury. However, after his Fate was changed, Neyon became more careful with his life, though he does on occasion still slip into old habits without thinking.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Neyon is driven primarily by his loyalty to the High Lord, especially as the High Lord's father was the one who facilitated his recovery after he was found in the Stonemoors. He typically prioritises the wellbeing of his comrades above himself, and genuinely cares about those he serves, and who he serves with.
Being able to view possible futures gives Neyon a somewhat unique perspective on time, and he will often utilise his knowledge to achieve a more favourable outcome for those he cares about.
Social
Family Ties
Aykan Vihan
Neyon's father, he died when Neyon was only a few months old, and therefore his knowledge of him is second-hand, passed on by others of the Coven.
Amyra Vihan
Neyon cherished his mother, but always lamented that she would not leave the Coven with him. His greatest regret is never being able to tell her how his father died; a secret he kept because the truth was so terrible, he did not wish for his mother to suffer it. Amyra Vihan died in Firewane of 1478, just before the Midnight Steel mission.
High Lord Talyn Fenbrook
Having been a trusted confidant of Talyn's father, Neyon has known the current High Lord since he was ten years old, and has a somewhat unique perspective on him as his Warranted Body Double. Talyn trusts Neyon with his life, quite literally in many respects, and he has often sought out Neyon's counsel over important matters.
Neifion "Neiven" Aven
Neiven was a guest in Neyon's home for the last five years of the Occupation of Fuldair, and the two became close friends. The sailor greatly enjoys teasing Neyon, and admitted to having a bit of a crush on him, but the Changeling always rebuffed him.
Sgt Yurillion Dygariad
Neyon and Yuri are friends and colleagues who frequently work together as Mentors. The pair share a common history in that they are both Chosen of Gods, and had somewhat turbulent childhoods. Yuri is also the one that Neyon trusts most with treating his injuries, as the Sargeant rarely ever questions how he came by his various bumps, scrapes, and fractures.
Master Courier Aerlon Fallowwell
Neyon credits Aerlon as being the one who initially saved his life, bringing him to the House and allowing him a chance at a new start. Aerlon has a certain fondness for Neyon, often referring to him by the affectionate, if rude, nickname of "Starry Bastard".
