2nd Terran Republic

The 2nd Republic is a Federal Republic. It is divided into five branches of government: The Executive, Legislative, Educative, Anti-Corruption, and Judicial. The Executive Branch is in charge of the implementation of laws, and their approval. The Executive Branch is headed by the President of the Republic and is elected every four years. The president then creates a Cabinet of Ministers to deal with specific issues facing the country. The Legislative Branch is made of the Council of Representatives, also sometimes shortened to simply 'the council'. It is headed by a Premier of the Council that is elected annually by the council. The Educative Branch is in charge of training for government officials. Before someone can hold a national office, they need to be qualified. To hold a position such as being President, a Cabinet Minister, or a representative in the council, the candidate will have to prove they are qualified to run for the office. Anyone can run in a national election once they have proven they are qualified to do so. This includes testing the individual's knowledge of the government's structure and political circumstances. The Anti-corruption and Judicial Branches regulate all other branches, including each other. The Anti-corruption branch's job is to investigate any suspicious activity within the government. If a law or policy is brought up and challenged as corrupt, harmful, or unconstitutional, the Judicial branch shall oversee the case and, if necessary, strike down the law. Judges are elected by an approval-disapproval system on a local level and are elected by the Council on a National level. The judges serve until death or resignation. The Leader of the Anti-corruption branch is elected annually. No political parties may hold a presence in the Anti-corruption branch, as it must be non-partisan.
The Republic is divided between multiple different countries, which are: Canada, The United States of America, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, The Caribbean Union, The United Federation of Central America, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Guiana, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay, South Africa, East Africa, Kongo, Central Africa, West Africa, Sokoto, Nigeria, Liberia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Morroco, Sahara, Algeria, Tunisia, Tripolitania, Cyrenaica, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Canaan, Arabia, Iran, Turkey, European Union, England, Russia, Transcaucasia, Greenland, Turkestan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Dravidistan, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaya, Borneo, Sumatra, Java, Flores, Sulawesi, Timor, Moluccas, Papua, Philippines, China, Tibet, Mongolia, Korea, Japan, Siberia, Bougainville, Soloman Islands, Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia, New Zealand, Australia, and the Antarctic Treaty Territory.

The culture of the Terran Republic is a strong and often contradictory combination between individual freedom and joining larger institutions. Terrans are known to value their possessions, including Money and objects, highly.

The Bank of Terra is the most important economic institution to have ever existed. The government of the Terran Republic has a budget of about 955,450,000,000 Terran Dollars. The organization that the most funding is given to is the United Terran Space Force, with the Department if Technological Research being in second place. The Terran Military is presently not very large, comprising only 7% of the national budget and with only 900,000 standing soldiers.

Formed in the wake of the Great Revolution, the 2nd Terran Republic was established in 2175, with the entire world joining with the exception of Switzerland. The 2180s would be a time of gaining stability and rebuilding the world. The 2190s and 2200s would be the time of prosperity. The 2210s and 2220s would see a growth in government power in an attempt to halt the collapse of the Terran Economy. The 2230s would be one of slow improvement, and the 2240s Would be a decade of prosperity again. The 2250s and 2260s saw civil unrest and reforms. The 2270s would be a decade of stagnations, and the 2280s and 2290s were one of opportunity as the Kuiper belt became opened up to exploration, which resulted in many consequences, positive and negative. Today the government is focused on getting rid of the negative consequences while retaining the positive ones, Something that had proven to be quite a challenge. Over the past decade, the Republic has been rocked with a string of corruption, assassinations, and instability in the executive branch that has resulted in nine presidents have been in office between 2290 and 2299. One died in office, One was assassinated, Two resigned, and Two had to be removed from office. President Torponten has vowed to end this trend.

The Terran Republic is home to about 90% of all humans, although this number decreased by about half a percent a decade. The current population of the Republic is about 5 Billion people, with 98.2% of those people citizens. Most of the population is localized within a few urban areas, notably: The Northeastern United States, Central Mexico, coastal Argentina, Central and Southern Europe, The Nile River Delta, The West African Coast from the cities of Dakar to Douala, Coastal Dravidistan, Central India, Java, Japan, Southern Korea, and in China along the Huang He and Yangtze Rivers.

The Terran Republic Controls almost all of Earth, with the exception of Switzerland in the continent of Europe. The Inner Planets of Mercury and Venus are under the administration of the Republic. (however Mercury is uninhabited, and Venus is home to only a handful of research stations.) The Republic also administrates the Outer Solar System. But, this is hard to enforce, and the Outer Solar system is more of lawless unaimed territory than anything else in practice.

Officially the Post-Revolutionary Defense Protection Guard of the Terran Republic, The Military has largely fallen from importance due to a lack of conflict. It is divided into the following Divisions: The Ground Force, The Sea Force, the Air Force, and the Space Force.

The Terran Republic operated the Bearau of Technological Research, which has the task of researching new technological prospects. It often partners with private Enterprises. It has divisions for Transporation, Medical, Safety, Electronics, Military, Education, Energy, Space, Industrial, Agricultural, and Urban.

The Terran Republic upholds Freedom of Religion. The largest faiths of the world (as of the 2290 census) are:

The Terran Republic oversees operations on Venus and Mercury. It maintains neutral relations with Switzerland and Luna. The U.C.M. is generally unfriendly to the Republic. However, Mars is reliant for most of its food, water, materials, and other resources on Terra. The Unions of Cerens is a close ally of Terra, seeing their Martian neighbours as a bit too aggressive for their liking. The outer solar system is technically overseen by the Republic, however, in practice, this is hardly the case as it can sometimes take a month, or more, for Terra to respond to a situation. The Mining Corprastates, at least for now, hold authority that far out. The Republic maintains cautious relations with the Corprastates, despising them, but each side knows they could not survive without the other.

A majority of The country's agriculture and Industry comes from their two respective Hubs. The Hubs of agriculture are the Great Plains (in North America), The fields of Eastern Europe, Patagonia, and Coastal Southeast Asia, from Ho Chi Minh City to Shanghai. The country's industry is centred in Alberta, Canada, and Bengal in Asia.

Trade across Planet Earth is fast and takes a matter of hours. Most trade is conducted with other governments. Being the only other government on Earth, The Republic has an open border and free trade with Switzerland. Luna is also a major trading partner. Luna has many natural resources that the Republic needs, and the Republic has a nearly unlimited budget. The Martian Government interferes very little with trade, and policy on trade is largely decided at a local level. However, all States are dependent on Earth in some way for food, water, and many goods only found off-world. Although the Republic condemns many of their actions, the Corprastates are essential for gathering the resources necessary to keep the Republic working. Ceres is not a major trading partner, preferring to get most of their goods second-hand from Mars.

Access to Education is an upheld and guaranteed right. Each city with a population over 50,000 is required to have a college or university, and every inhabited part of the planet has at least a municipal school system. Education is required grades 1-10.

The Terran Republic has a Global highway system, and a global airport and spaceport system. Spaceports are located in remote areas and are usually only used for either high-priority missions or to leave Earth.
