Kuiper Station

Government

The Station council is elected annually, consisting of five seats. Whichever candidate gets at least in fifth place in the election is appointed to the station council. The council functions more like a city council than a government.

Industry & Trade

Kuiper Station is the only permanent station beyond Neptune. It is an orbit around the sun between the orbits of Neptune and Pluto. It sustains itself by charging Mining ships coming or going from the Kuiper belt to stop at the station in food, money, or whatever goods are necessary to the continuation of the station. It also acts as the headquarters of multiple asteroid mining companies.

History

It began construction in 2261 to make exploration and mining of the Kuiper belt feasible. Construction was completed in 2279, although a permanent population didn't develop until the late 2280s and early 2290s. The Station council was established in 2280 to run the station.
