July 26th -19

by Hibou

So, we won the gladiator fight. And now we're talking about where to go next. We won some sort of vacation, so I'm all for it if it's further away from where I've been previously! These people are too fond of talking, though. Life is what happens when you're busy planning, so they should just get going!

I've figured out that we're in Dawn Hammer now, though. How? I've never been here before... Well. That's what happens when you fall asleep on a dog, I guess. At least I've never been here before, and wasn't planning to go here at all, so the woman wouldn't know to look for me here!

The gnome is going on about his story again. At least now we are back where he was hunted previously, so it makes sense to warn us, but I've heard it before. He should have killed this Balthazar while he was down - don't just assume your enemies are dead. Eat them. He also, apparently, made a deal with a snake to look for something called a disk of nine suns? Dunno what that is. Dunno why they want it. Sounds pretty, though. Maybe I could keep it?

The dwarf is from Dawn Hammer as well, so we go to his parents' place to sleep, since, y'know... It's been a long day. But, of course, they've gone to Starport. Of course they aren't home. They could have been tasty too. And the dwarf sucks at picking locks. I could help, but then again... None of them are asking me to do it, so why should I bother? I should just find a tree to sleep in. Fuck, I'm tired. Why do I stick around with these people again?

And now we're moving to the gnome and the dog's house. Lady Anwen wanted to go there, so I'll follow along. This home has been raided. And trapped. With poison. Someone wants either the gnome or the dog gone, and my money is on the gnome. Could it be this Balthazar? That's what I mean: you should just deal with your enemies when you can, or they will come back to haunt you.

We don't stay there. Reasonable, if you ask me, since his entire home is trapped to the brim. They mention a nearby tavern that should be closed, but they can wake the owner and get a place to sleep. Sure. I'll accept anything. Fuck, I'm tired. But of course, there are people here. And they are rowdy. And the dog claims it smells like sulfur.
Damn.
So the people who raided the gnome's home is in here? Or are they a different group? In any case, they seem like they will keep me from sleeping. Damn. So not here either, then?

Now they are arguing about where to go again. Damn. These people have no clue. Maybe I've made a mistake in joining them-
The dog says he can hear something surrounding us. I can see small, green people looking at us through some sort of tubes? Seems inefficient. There are 15 of them, though one seems bigger and slower than the rest of them. They are covered in leaves and grass - are they trying to hide? They're really bad at it. They are keeping their distance. They must be following us. Who are they? What do they think they are doing, hiding so shabbily?

Damn, all these questions. Well, they are doing no harm, and the rest of this group has settled on a place to sleep, so fuck it. I'm tired. I will ride the dog to this sleepy place. It is apparently a guild where the gnome and the dog used to work, the Blackclaw somethings.

We are met with a line of mice. One of them vanishes as the bird man attacks it, as if it was never there. The rest of them scatter. I am suddenly really hungry. I want to eat one, dammit. It leaves footprints as if it burns the floor when it walks, and has red, glowing eyes. It must be tasty. I am hungry.

I AM HUNGRY! And I can't even eat any of these people because I've joined their group and they are good meat shields and lady Anwen might be displeased and I need them to stay alive for now and I AM JUST HUNGRY!

The eyes of this rat is glowing, and I feel my body stiffen slightly before shaking it off. Fuck! Is this what I think it is? But there is no way she would have known I would be here! I didn't even know I was going here. And I am still hungry... And that rat looks yummy, dammit! The rat looks at me again, and I feel snakes moving through my mind, trying to do something. I manage to shake it off again.

The gnome, Knobbles, comes to help me fight this rat. Hm. He is more useful than he seems. As long as he realizes that the prey is mine to eat, I don't mind help with taking it down. But, damn, that rat lets out a horrible scream when hit with Knobbles' dagger! Damn! I feel kind of shaken, though still hungry, but some of the others seem properly scared.

The rat is now focusing on Knobbles, and his skin starts to turn stone-like. And I suddenly notice all these smashed mirrors. How the hell didn't I see these smashed mirrors before?! FUCK!
HOW DID SHE FIND ME?! WHY IS SHE HERE? I HAVE NEVER EVEN BEEN HERE BEFORE, GODDAMMIT! HOW. THE. FUCK.
Now I run, yes. The rest of the group will have to make their own way through this woman. If they make it, perhaps we'll meet again. I already kind of miss lady Anwen. But not enough to stay around to face that woman!

I am tired as all hells, though. So I will find the tallest fucking tree and try to stealthily sleep in it. Perhaps the small, green people had the right idea, and branches and grass are good cover. Gods, I am tired. Sleep, then more running.

Mmm. Morning now. I am small again, and based on the sun it is quite late. Should I go back for the rest of them? Or will they find their own way in the world? Are they still alive? That wool, though... If lady Anwen is dead, she has probably turned to stone. That would be a shame... But perhaps she hasn't? If she had died and I did not harvest her wool, that would be a crime, wouldn't it? But I don't want to come across that woman if she's still there.

But if she was waiting for me here, she must be following me in some way. In that case, it would be safest with a group. More meat shields! But they need to move. We need to move far away. Run! Ah, but Knobbles is also running. So, the group should be wanting to move fairly quickly... I think I'll take my chances with them for a little longer. But! What if they are telling on me? What if we have a spy in our midsts? Or what if that woman is tracking one of them instead of me, in order to get to me? Some of them are awfully noisy... But they are useful.

Fuck, this is lots of thinking.

I will try with this group a little longer. But keep my eyes open.

The dwarf seems amenable to us leaving quickly. Perhaps he is a good influence? Hm. He is saying something about what they experienced last night. When a mirror was conjured you could see a snake slithering towards us in it. And the rest of the group seemed to have bad dreams. That woman spent the night there? I am so glad that I didn't go back! But the bird-man seems to have suffered? They want to check out a magic shop and/or a temple before we leave, to see if we can cure him. That is fair - if there is help for what that woman can do I would like to know of it as well!

We stop by a magic shop first, where the goblin shopkeep tells the bird-man to avoid sleeping, that it is curable, and to see a temple. He also wonders if it was consensual. Why? What does it matter? Do people agree to anything from that woman?
The shopkeep also has a special, shiny thing that costs a lot of money and he seems to like it a lot... It kind of makes me want it. But I'm not very good at stea- uh, borrowing during the day. Perhaps I'll return during the night, if we're still here.
I want it.

Bird-man goes to the temple next, and I follow, because I want to know what happened to him. It probably has to do with that woman, and if the temple can help I want to know.

They all ask if it's consensual, and go "oooh..." when he says no. They do manage to cure it, though they ask for 3000 gp to do it. And they warn him to not go dwelving through any old ruins.

Another magic shop? Goddammit, why do wee kee-
ENCHANTED WOOL! IT KEEPS REFILLING! THIS IS FUCKING GREAT, I WANT IT! YES, PLEASE!
What kind of wool is it?
They also have a bow I can attach the wool to! Yes, please! I will get this bow, and the wool, and be so happy!
