Once a noble ranger of the city watch. Guy would frequently hunt down enemies and find rare items for the court wizard, Handsome Jack, of his esteemed city. One particular year, Guy found himself on more missions than usual, taking himself away from his family but rewarded by means of gold.
One evening, he returns from work to find his city under siege by demonic otherworldly beings. After rendezvousing with the city guard, he learned that the wizard he had been working for all this time had built a gateway to another plane, using the materials that Guy had been collecting for him.
After many weeks of battle, alongside reinforcements from neighboring cities, the demons had been pushed back and retreated back to their realm. Before he could be slain, Handsome Jack retreated into the portal as well. Guy had lost everything in the battle... his friends, family, home, and belongings. Filled with rage he also rushed through the portal before it collapsed in on itself.
Swearing vengeance, Guy has spent the last 6 years, on multiple planes, searching for Handsome Jack. Twice he has come close to his goal, and twice it has slipped away, only to begin the chase on another realm once again.
Continually losing those around him as he journey's through the planes, he has shifted into a shell of his former self, even forsaking his birthname to simply go by "Guy". More comfortable now in the wild than in these changing cityscapes, with races and beings anew with each jump. The thought of his family and one day finding his vengeance keep him going.
The Yawning Portal Awaits
Nearing the end of your most recent journey, you can't help but stop for a moment as you take in the sprawling landscape of this northern port city. Dark clouds pregnant with the promise of rain blend seamlessly into the grey steel of the frozen seas on the horizon, giving the entire grey and dreary veranda a healthy suggestion of a hardscrabble and precarious existence. This feeling is cemented in your mind as your gaze drifts down to the City of Waterdeep. Shoehorned into the northern outlet of the River Desarrie, the closed gates of the town and the drifts of snow piled against the perimeter wall give the entire city a hunched, no, a hounded and defensive posture within the landscape. A slow and yet persistent breeze snatches and grabs consistently at the hem of your cloak.
"What a shithole", you mutter to yourself as you stomp your feet in your boots to warm your frozen feet. It's not really the worst place that you have been in all your travels. In fact, your pursuit of Handsome Jack has taken you to places much worse. "The cold is always such a pain in the ass though. Give me an alternate plane with strange technologies and highly hostile inhabitants any day!" You shoulder your pack and begin your decent into town. One night of food and drink in Waterdeep, then on to the Inn of The Yawning Portal and answers...
You pull a carefully wrapped and quality piece of parchment from your pouch. As you've done so many times before, you read the strange missive that set your feet on this road many months ago...
"Guy,
If you wish to find that which you seek, meet me at The Yawning Portal on Midwinter Day. Arrive at Dusk. Present this letter to the Barkeep

Your thoughts are dark and distant as your steps take you ever closer to your prey. "I'm coming for you Handsome Jack, you bastard." without even knowing you are doing it your hand gently strokes your Bow.
