My name is River Oasis. I am from the Hakoda Clan where we fish, swim, practice our water magic, and learn things from our culture. I was born in the water where I had to swim up for air, it is normal for our culture to do that so that the newborns can have a bond with the ocean. Swimming is naturally our talent and it is in our instinct to do so.
My mother had to take care of me and my three older sisters. Their names were Sirena, Ocean, and Aqua. Sirena was the one who helped me how to catch fish with our bare hands and using nets. Ocean and Aqua helped me to swim better but told me swimming techniques when there is a predator or when there is prey. My mother, Opal, was the one who taught me how to cook and her cooking was the best out of all the people in Hakoda.
When I slowly got older, I wondered what it was like outside of Hakoda. I wondered if there were other people like me or other races that were different than me. I had so many questions in mind, but none of the books here in Hakoda speak about the things outside of this tribe. When I was just 25 years old, I asked my mother if I could go outside and start my journey where I could find who I wanted to be, but also understand what I like outside of Hakoda. My mother knew it was going to happen and she sighed a big sigh. She told me that there was a place where I could learn, but on one condition, that I had to write her a letter every week so that she wouldn't worry about me. I thanked her and I started to pack up my stuff for the journey. My older siblings gave me a big hug and gave me gifts that will help me remember them. Once I was done packing up, I said goodbye to all of my people in Hakoda and left on my journey.
My journey came with a lot of challenges and risks, but I was able to make it through and went to the place where my mother told me. Once I got there, it was filled with a lot of people, people that I did not know of, and their buildings...Tall, advanced, and big. The place that I had to go to was called "All Races/Species Academy". When I got there, there were a lot of people, but there were very few that were of my kind. I did very well in the academy, working hard, paying attention, listening, etc. I got out of the academy with a degree and I was able to go to a college, a college for people who wanted to be sorcerers or sorceresses. The reasons why I wanted to go there are because one, I already have a few magic that I can use which is water magic, second, I wanted to expand my knowledge of things that I have not known of yet, third I wanted to be the first Water Genasi in my tribe of becoming a sorceress, and fourth I wanted to learn other magic besides water of course.
I did succeed well in that college and I became a researcher at the Environmental Lab. Of course, I learned a lot of things and learned a couple of languages along the way which is great because then I can use those languages to speak with other people that is not my race. I am still in contact with my family, and they are proud of the achievements that I have made in the academy and college. My journey's not over yet, there is still so much to explore and still so much to see. And I hope you enjoyed learning so much about me reader.
