Memoth

The Memoth also called "Tempest Serpents' ' are a type of deadly monstrosity that evolved from snakes through the essence of storm dragons becoming large, long, blue & silver electrokinetic serpents. They are known to live solitary lives as apex predators in mountains hunting small beasts, kobolds, & goblins. These monsters are known for their consumption of silver and copper as well as their ability to fire a lightning breath from their mouths.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Memoth are huge reptilian monsters, with nearly 20 legs with claws that can dig into rock, horns in their head, & spikes on their back. Their stomach acid is unique, being able to corrode flesh and poison in seconds and metals in days. Under their scales & skin are thick layers of fat that stop the injection of poison and act as an insulator. Memoths have a special sac in their necks that can turn their own bio-electricity into a weapon coating their bodies in electricity and even firing a beam of lightning, this can be further augmented by the presence of silver & copper in their system to magnify their electrical output.

Genetics and Reproduction

Memoths breed in groups during large storms laying 12 eggs though only 4 or less are actually alive. They are blue-green and have a leathery texture, 2ft. in dimensions & hatch after 4 weeks being buried in sand & dirt.

Growth Rate & Stages

Memoths reach adulthood after ten years going from hatchling to adolescent after only 5 years. As babies they have 6 legs & are 10ft. long and grow longer & more legs as time goes by gaining another set of legs every year. The eldest grow to 50 - 60 feet.

Ecology and Habitats

Hunting & Consumption

  • Memoths are exclusively carnivorous swallowing their prey whole due to their inability to chew; they typically hunt beasts but are known to hunt colonies of goblins and kobolds consuming 30 of them before they leave although they'll eat people just the same. Upon swallowing their prey whole they enter 5 to 10 days of dormancy to digest their food sleeping in their lairs. They never bring dead things to their layer to avoid leaving anything to lead a creature to their lair. They always hunt away from their layer making sure nothing can find out where they live. Their favorite metal is copper & silver, often consuming copper and silver ore as well as the metals of adventures such as iron weapons, as the metal in their system augments their ability to use electricity.

Memoth Lairs

  • They lair in Mountains with the entrance extremely hidden typically high in the mountain walls where a Memoth can climb to behind waterfalls and rock slides. They make their lair in a place with large colonies of creatures like goblin & kobold nests.

Breeding & Parenting

  • Memoth mothers protect their eggs & raise their young for about a year before getting rid of them and they are on their own. The Memoth breed in large quantities during powerful storms always congregating at the top of mountain peaks.

Combat

  • Memoth fight with their physical capabilities typically clawing their opponents, and using their long body and muscles to constrict their foes. They will wait until they have to, to use their electrokinetic techniques due to the high probability of neural malfunctions although when emotional they will use their lightning veil & lightning breath to destroy their foes.

Memoth Electricity

  • Memoth have Electricity surging through their bodies allowing them to fire an electrical breath. However as a consequence lightning surges through their brains causing mood swings as it messes with their synaptic activity.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Memoths are exclusively carnivorous needing up to 300lbs. of nourishment a month hunting many creatures in search for food. They are known to eat goblins & kobolds.

Biological Cycle

Memoth breed in large quantities during storms in spring & summer. They enter a state of hibernation during the winter.

Additional Information

Domestication

Memoths are hard to tame, needing someone who is strong to be respected by a Memoth. Their loyalty is dependent on strength and when someone proves themselves stronger than their handler they'll leave.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Their eggs & babies are worth about 500 - 750 gold they take about 2 months to train so long as you have an infant Memoth. Their hide so long as it's in good condition is worth 500 - 1,000 gold & can be used to make grand looking scale mail armor. Memoth Scale Mail takes 2 months to make, 3 can be made from 1 hide, & they make the wearer immune to lightning   Memoth Scale Mail cost 2,000 gold, their hearts sell for 3,000 gold and can be used to make "Potions Of Poison Immunity". Their horns sell for 2,500 gold and can be used to make "Potions Of Lightning Immunity". Memoth Talons sell for 1,000 gold & can be used to make "Potions Of Restoration''.

Facial characteristics

long scarred face, small slanted spikes, curved horns on the left & ride side of their heads.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Memoth typically live on Zodia & the Arconis System living in mountains and hills.

Average Intelligence

The Memoth are fairly intelligent although for the most part they are primal.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Memoths have an enhanced sense of sight, being able to see in the dark up to 120ft. They also have enhanced smell, being able to track their prey from 5 miles away. Another trait they possess is electro-reception, being able to sense electrical pulses from others in a 120ft. radius.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Goblins

  • One of the main creatures hunted by Memoths as prey consuming 30 of them before entering dormancy. Goblins see them as natural enemies and monsters that they can't hope to beat.

Kobolds

  • One of the main prey species of the Memoths, the favorite prey of the Memoth as the taste of dragon is appetizing to the Memoths.

Civilization and Culture

Historical Figures

Gullet

  • A Memoth who was under the ownership of Venea Ashido during the dark ages of zodia acting as a guard in exchange for food. Gullet has eaten many bandits who dared entered the stronghold of his master.

Soldan

  • A Memoth who lived in the mountains of Thundaheim hunting kobolds for food. He became one of Thor's pets after a pact was made to stop the kobold hunting.
"You ever fought a Memoth deadly monsters that eat anything when they go out to hunt. They'll definitely eat humans and other types of people although their main diet consist of goblins and kobolds despite their small size they are an easy kill but one isn't enough they can eat 30 of those little guys before going into dormancy. I had to find an alternative source of food for mine though. - Thor"   "Studies show that the Memoth were originally a species of snake that we once thought went extinct but in fact they evolved into these electrokinetic serpents when exposed to the essence of dead storm dragons. It seems like draconic essence can have mutagenic properties when reptiles are exposed to it. - Venea"
