Endbringers
Massive monstrosities from beyond the edge of the world, endbringers are those who would spell destruction for Yull if able. Once before, they nearly did. Two endbringers, named Hetetriauliss and Kamlkizheilht by the goblins and humans of yull, attacked the planet, delving into the energy of Yull's Worldsoul and consuming large amounts. Fortunately for Yull, the four intelligent races worked together with the worldsoul and created a barrier, cutting the endbringers off from their worldly avatars and allowing said avatars to be (mostly) killed, although, unbeknownst to them, a handful survived. These hid in the far reaches of the stone forests, fighting to survive the predation of giant myriapods for thousands of years, until one was found by the channeler Kanthal Veltun. This was the last remnant of Kamlkizheilht left on Yull. Disconnected from its colossal progenitor, the avatar (a small clawed one known as a 'cheiroped') had developed thoughts of its own and slowly adapted over the thousands of years it had lived. The endbringer avatars, while biologically immortal, could not create more of themselves without the original massive forms they all split off of. Endbringers survive by consuming the energy of living worlds to sustain themselves, and often destroy those worlds in the process. When they were cut off from yull, the seveering of their ties to their many worldly avatars injured them severely. Weakened, they now are all the more ravenous for the lifeforce of worlds to help them regain their strength.
The workings of an endbringer
Endbringers feed on the collective energy and lifeforce of a world and everything on it. The endbringers themselves are eldritch creatures that live beyond the worlds, high above the atmosphere. they are capable of traversing the Vast Void , allowing them to more quickly seek out worlds to prey upon. When an endbringer reaches a suitable world, it sets itself in place high above or in orbit of it and begins to send down its avatars, living extensions of itself whose purpose is to devour the world and harvest its energy for the endbringer. No two of these avatars are the same, varying greatly in size and shape from huge, tentacled monstrosities that mirror to some degree the endbringer itself (such as translator drone), to small, scurrying and slithering collector drones and mid-sized clawed cheiropeds.
All endbringers have the ability to 'bond' with another creature, though this is extremely rare and only happens if said other creature has saved the endbringer or avatar's life and been touched by its blood. Bonding with an endbringer grants a creature some measure of its power, allowing them to perform otherwise impossible feats of magic. The only known example of this on Yull is Kanthal. Those who bond with endbringers tend to have grim personalities, and share a philosophy that all must cycle through birth, life and death. It is suspected this is the endbringers' own philosophy.
Each endbringer and its avatars have a different set of magical abilities. For instance, Hetetriauliss and its avatars can disintegrate nonliving matter by touch, and Kamlkizheilht and its avatars can create portals into the vast void. Other endbringers also exist somewhere in the universe, but have never visited Yull, leaving their powers unknown to the world.
When exposed to open air, the purplish blood of endbringers rapidly both congeals and crystalizes, sealing up their wounds with great speed.
