Worldsoul
A worldsoul forms planets and creates magic systems on them using its incredible power. Not all planets are created by worldsouls. Worldsouls are made mainly of raw magical and/or electrical energy, but the older and thus more powerful ones often manifest in physical forms. Yull's worldsoul manifests as a large, glowing ruby, while others manifest as creatures, clouds--you name it. Young worldsouls are formed in the hearts of small whitish stars, glowing much more coolly than others as they hold much of their energy inside for the forming worldsoul. After being born, young worldsouls often observe the worlds created by their elders for some time before making their own. When they do this, they tend to appear as glowing specks moving across the sky, not always in sync with the world's rotation. they are also capable of dimming their light so that they are nearly invisible from that distance. Even when dimmed, worldsouls emit a weak field of energy around them. An advanced civilation could potentially harness this energy,if, somewhere in the universe, they haven't already.
Below is a guide to the names for different world types, with notes:
World with an active1 worldsoul=Living world
World with a non-active worldsoul=Dormant world
World with a dead2 worldsoul=Dead world
World that never had a worldsoul=Natural world
World that has been disconnected from its worldsoul3=disconnected world/severed world
Series of worlds created and/or managed by one worldsoul4=World system
World not created by a worldsoul, but inhabited by one=Shell world (dormant shell world, dead shell world or living shell world.)
World created and/or managed by a being other than a worldsoul5=Strange world
World created by one being, but later managed by another6=Transitional world
World created, manage and/or dwelt in by two or more beings, usually a pair of worldsouls=Dual/divided world
World without a creating worldsoul, but with sentient self-sustaining species=Sub-complete world
1Active meaning a worldsoul that, whether intelligently or automatically, monitors or sustains to some degree the goings-on of its world.
2This is unusual, as worldsouls don't seem to die naturally, and some have automated their processes to the extent that they can continue them after death until the last of their energy is released and disperses in a process called "burning out". Worldsouls are extremely difficult to kill, with the difficulty of the process often being proportionate to the worldsoul's energy supply. A dead worldsoul can be fed enormous amounts of energy to fuel automatic processes, though this has never been accomplished for more than a little while and the worldsoul tends to slowly consume itself and burn out.
3Yull is an example of this, though the worldsoul did not leave of its own accord.
4Usually involving the worldsoul moving between worlds fairly often. These can also have more than one sustaining worldsoul, making a dual or divided world system.
5Very unusual, and often the worlds are smaller and strange, But some very powerful beings can create their own worlds in space or in the Vast Void. There is no universal standard for what qualifies as an individual world.
6Often these were dual worlds at some point in their history, before the first being left.
