Hidden beneath the hard volcanic rock and blue crystaline ice of
Tor Fengtop lies the mythical Astrolathe. This miracle of
Dragon artifice has remained concealed within tunnels and halls bored into the mountain's heart-stone since ancient times with only the silhouette of its large
Scale-Bronze dome barely visible through the lake of solid ice above.
According to the old texts, the Astrolathe was where some of the most legendary Dragon made artifacts were created.
Star-gazing under ice
The huge dome at the top of the complex at first glance resembles many of the other surviving observatories scattered across the peaks of the
Aspideas range. In the center of the dome sits a large telescope suspended in a cradle of spinning gears and rotating mechanisms that keep it pointing at the same place in the sky at all times. There is one glaring issue with the telescope, however. The dome has no openings for the telescope to look through.
Icebound halls
The interior is sterile and frozen, all moisture long since leached out of the air by the extreme, unnatural chill that permeates the place. The highest concentration of ice buildup is around a series of great scale-bronze pipes that run through the entire complex. Chipping away the ice on the pipes reveals "LLYFTLLIFIC" in the ancient Dragon script.
Original dragon inscription "LLYFTLLIFIC", transcribed as "Lewftlivich", translated literally into Wexan as "Air-life" or more accurately "Vital air".
It is assumed that this is a mistake, as the sound of water somehow not frozen solid can be clearly heard flowing through the pipes. It is strange water indeed, as spills of the pale blue water have been observed to freeze objects solid on contact, yet when used to douse a flame instead creates a short-lived inferno until the fuel is burned up.
