Aspideas

Towering pillars of ancient stone rise above the icy glacial lakes of the glens and dales like the vertebrae of some ancient serpent. Between the sheer sea cliffs of its western faces and the untamed Glamourvale sheltered on its eastern lee slopes, this northern most part of the Wexan mainland is largely uninhabited by all but the hardiest of subterranean Dwarven settlements such as Lolkkurel.   The Aspideas mountains are primarily comprised of hard pink granites, banded gneiss, black and gold marbles, quartzites, and basalts. The Dwarven Stonesingers of the region claim that the range is the product of terrible volcanic upheaval, though the rocks now slumber except in the very deepest of the mountains' roots.   Tor Fengtop towers over the surrounding landscape, rising from the surrounding massif like a jagged, broken tooth. The mountain is the remnant of an ancient volcano whose lava formed a plug and collapsed in on itself, leaving behind a shallow crater surrounded by a jagged rim of columnar basalt. Even during the height of summer, the crater is filled with hard, blue ice. The mountain's summit is estimated to be the highest in the Wexan Isles.

Along the mighty mountainsides,
Fog creeps beneath the tops,
