Ravenwood Inns

Historical Overview

Establishment

Perryden's government, House Lyonel, has been far from universally popular. From their violent ascent and ousting of the popularised House Perry, to their overuse of the Free Company, and to their once-strict export laws, many have had a reason to avoid entering the city. Travellers instead sought refuge outside its walls. While this was easy enough to the south, where they could spend the night across the Timber, there was no such settlement to the north.
"The raiders approaching through the Ravenswood were revealed when the birds fled that forest for the great tree at the edge of the inlet, as stories said they would when a disturbance was about." - House Perry: A History
On the banks of the little Insworth Stream was a massive, gnarled oak in the branches of which would perch ravens from the Ravenswood. Around this tree was a natural campsite for travellers passing by from the north, at which an intrepid local established the first inn around 20 AM. To sustain the growing amount of travellers who wanted to skirt around the city, this eventually grew into a cluster of hostels and inns, grouped around the ancient tree.   Sustained by the nearby Insworth Harbor, a fishing village that grew up across the stream in the mid Age of Men, the Ravenwood Inns can provide travellers or merchants all they need to navigate past Perryden and its guards.
