What people thinkLivonians are raised into the beliefs of the congregation, which teaches that MES is our punishment for invading the metadimension, a place living humans are not permitted to enter. That's why people with MES need to be quarantined away from others, and we need to work to prove that we've learned our lesson in order for them to be cured. Most Livonians have never met a psion, and the media they see is heavily sanitized to make sure it stays that way. Because of all this, most Livonians truly believe the quarantine zones are necessary.
Beyond Livonia, opinions are more varied. There are extreme voices of all sorts - from other congregation members or others with strong prejudice arguing in favor of expanding quarantine zones (or worse), to others such as the Janian Liberation Coalition that advocates for dismantling Livonia's quarantine zones by force if necessary.
The vast majority of the sector population, however, has little opinion on the matter. The plight of Livonian psions is too far separated from their day-to-day, especially when they have more immediate and personal concerns. Even though who do have strong opinions find they have little ability to do anything about the problem.
This includes psions themselves. Most want nothing more than to live a normal, happy life. Drawing attention to themselves by being vocal about their problems or standing up for those in Livonia is often seen as a risk. Especially when they have jobs, family, and friends they might lose in the process.
Escapeslivonian govt insists escapes don't happen, at best they admit escapes happened in the distant past and they've since learned from those mistakes. however, all but the most patriotic of livonians admit escape is likely at least possible. news that the budyong national hoverrelay team may have actually smuggled MES-infected individuals off Livonia came as a shock to most.
