Selenelion Eclipse
A selenelion eclipse is a rare astronomical event when the sun and a fully eclipsed moon are visible over opposite horizons at the same time. This celestial event unleashes transformative magic far beyond the arcane magnification of a simple full moon or a standard eclipse.
Back when I was a zap the craziest night I ever had on the police force happened on a "sellly-nelly" eclipse! Ghost Boy showed up at my station house just when my shift was ending! He dragged me out to find some babies kidnapped by warlocks while the Crab Kaiju and the Star Lion were chasing each other across the sky!
Normal eclipses already portend supernatural occurrences and draw the attention of marauding Celestial Gluttons trying to eat the sun, moon, and/or stars. On a selenelion eclipse, things get weird. Transformation magic becomes hyper-potent. Those seeking maximum efficacy for their Re-Incarnation Cocooning plan their metamorphosis to coincide with a selenelion.
Strange tides pull on the water, dragging drowned things from the depths. Druids, shifters, and lycanthropes grow powerful and feral under the dual lights.
Children born beneath a selenelion sky sometimes gain transformative gifts, or curses. Some grow into changelings or doppelgangers. Others are cursed with lycanthrope, or gifted with a benign animal form. A rare few gain the ability to change their gender or physical traits at dawn each day.
The magical barrel folx, prized for their gender shifting enchantments, must receive their final incantations beneath selenelion light.
Those born under selenelion light often become gifted druids with their natural gift for transformation. We keep astrological charts and records of birth, seeking out the selenelion blessed when the time is right.
For some reason, I am quite enchanted by the idea of feral druids.
