Futurists of Kaneyama

Mirai-ha no Kaneyama

The Mirai-ha no Kaneyma, or 'Futurists of Kaneyama', have been officially classified as an illegal pirate syndicate by Zone Authority Police. The government of the island nation of Kaneyama publicly denies any association with the group while they bid for membership in the Concordance for Survival.

When I was a beat zap in the Authority, we'd bust Futurist smuggling rings all the time. Those islanders are always on the hunt for cutting edge extraplanar tech. They're masters of reverse-engineering. From what I've heard, they're leaps and bounds ahead of us in quite a few technologies, especially giant transforming robots.

The Futurists of Kaneyama seek to seize the future for their homeland. This network of wizards, engineers, and artificers believe their nation has been unfairly denied world leadership simply due to a mistake in geography. To fix that, they seek the most advanced tech possible from the Kirinal Pit.

They happily purchase as much broken extraplanar tech as permitted and quietly steal or pirate the rest. The Futurists have subverted factions of the Gray Angels and allied with the Goldmasters to secure access and influence within the Zone.

Their ultimate goal is to one day control the Pit themselves. Toward that end, they have allied with the Infernal Forces and other groups. Their experiments in kaiju-scale constructs led directly to the creation of Mecha-Tiamat and the golden armor of Malfador.

Listen, every artificer wants to get their hands on a broken plasma rifle. I know. You just need someone with a clear head like the captain over your shoulder or you're gonna end up like Father Oz, making the monsters that maim you.

I can see their motivation, honestly.

They seem a little scary, but I get it. I see where they're coming from. I mean, I would be working on kaiju-sized constructs too, if I wasn't absolutely crap at building things.

But for the happenstance of geography, it would be them! They're super pissed about it!
