Divine Cartographer
Here in the Kirinal Concordance Zone, the barefooted Divine Cartographers walk through Heaven every seventh day, drawing maps that reveal the celestial geometry of the gods. Only the most thoughtful and pure-hearted are allowed unrestricted access to the Manifested Heavens. Personally, I find Saint Thomelin of Arro's maps of the Halls of Mercy to be sublimely pleasing.
So let me get this straight, these hairy, unwashed barefoot types can wander wherever they want in Heaven, but a red-blooded orc like me has to stay on the path or get tossed? Fair enough. I have no regrets for the heads I've taken and the beer I've spilled in the name of our great civilization. I've got free reign in the Heaven of Battle, and that's good enough for me!
Divine cartographers are ascetics from a range of religious traditions, individuals who have undergone spiritual purification to the point that they can walk all the paths of Heaven.
When a divne realm manifests in the Kirinal Pit, most pilgrims are restricted to designated roads and mortal paths. Only those deemed "worthy" can leave the paths and explore the forests, fields, and mountains of that particular heaven.
Churches throughout the Zone actively scout their congregations for potential divine cartographers. They choose candidates capable of mapping the heaven they most want to understand.
Each realm has their own conditions for untethered exploration. Common heavenly restrictions include:
Celibacy or chastity
Strict cleanliness rituals
Dietary purity
Grooming practices, such as uncut hair or shaved heads
Vows of silence, truth, or poverty
In order to cover as much ground as possible, divine cartographers often adopt multiple restrictions, even from outside their own traditions. The one rule that applies to all cartographers is that they must be barefoot.
A rare few can walk freely in any heaven. Some ineffable doctrine determines that they are worthy, regardless of official theology.
Lola Carly knows plenty of these Divine Cartographers, I have a special menu for them at Lola's Comfy Kitchen. I have the gulay dishes for the vegetarians. I have alll the fish and shrimps for the pescatarians. And of course we have plain rice for those who can't eat bread or cheese! I don't know what the big deal is though. I walk wherever I want in the Heavens!
Ah, yes, a little bit of jealous Kill Flayer! lol
