Dragonstone

Dragonstone, originally known as obsidian, is a black glass like material. It is fragile and hard to work with, meaning even a tiny mistake will ruin all the work you've already put into it. However, it is able to hold magic better than any other material. A Runesmith dedicate their lives to mastering the craft to create Runestones.

No one knows where Dragonstone comes from, or why it can contain magic as well as it can, but there are many myths. Some think dragons made it, some think the gods and others think it's pure magic given form. All that is known is carving specifc runes into it makes it able to hold different kinds of magic.
