Realm of Avalon

Avalon

Designation: 42nd Realm
Capital World: Earth (Capital Planet of the United Alliance)
Primary Traits: Technologically dominant, politically fractured, newly reintroduced to magic
Demonym: Avalonian (or more specifically: Earthborn, Colonial, Gala Gonian depending on species/region)
Known For: Advanced interplanetary civilization, reintroduction of magic, galaxy-wide warfare

Overview

Avalon is a realm of stars, forged not by arcana, but by silicon and fire. Cut off from the Weave for centuries, Avalon developed through science, industry, and war. With no access to magic, its societies turned outward—colonizing hundreds of planets and moons, developing AI, antimatter propulsion, orbital cities, and synthetic life.

This isolation shattered when Octavius Athomath reconnected Avalon to the network of realms, reintroducing magic and shaking the foundation of Avalon's rigid, technological worldview. In the aftermath, a new era has emerged—one where sorcery and circuitry exist side by side.

Major Powers

  • The United Alliance (U.A.):
A massive coalition of human-led planetary governments, originally formed to secure peace and expand shared resources. Now increasingly strained by internal divides and the reintroduction of magic.
  • The Gala Gonian Hegemony (G.G.H.):
A militant, theocratic lizard-like species whose expansionist empire spans dozens of systems. Zealous and ruthless, they consider themselves divinely chosen and reject the sharing of their Galaxy with others.

Key Locations

  • Earth (U.A. Capital):
A heavily urbanized, planet-spanning megastructure of domed cities, artificial habitats, and vertical metropolises. It remains the central command hub of the U.A. and the symbolic heart of humanity.
  • Veradan Spires:
Floating orbital cities constructed during the isolation era, now slowly integrating magical infrastructure into their layered tech stacks.
  • The Fractured Belt:
A cluster of war-torn colony worlds ravaged by the U.A.–Gala Gonian conflict. Now experimental frontiers for Artificing research.

Culture & Society

  • Humans of Avalon:
Known for innovation, pragmatism, and a fierce belief in autonomy. Humans tend toward meritocratic systems and militarized politics. The reemergence of magic has polarized public opinion—some view it as salvation, others as heresy or regression.
  • Gala Goanians:
Reptilian in physiology, zealous in doctrine, and fanatical in their belief that their technological dominance is a right of order. Their society is rigid, casted, and deeply mystical in contrast to human rationalism.
  • Technology–Magic Integration:
Still in its infancy. Some sectors, especially fringe worlds and rogue states, have begun blending arcane spells into artificial systems, forming experimental units and industries. The Empire's encouragement through MSTI has assisted these advancements.

Government & Structure

  • Governing Body:
The United Alliance Senate—composed of elected leaders from each core world. Increasingly splintered by disagreements over magic regulation, military strategy.
  • Emerging Magic Ministries:
In response to post-reconnection crises, special ministries within the U.A. now coordinate with the Council of 75 for magical assistance, classification, and oversight—sparking both admiration and outrage.
  • Law & Enforcement:
Rigidly coded and enforced by a combination of artificial intelligences, security droids, and private military corporations. Recent conflicts have begun to strain this order.

Historical Timeline Highlights

  • The Isolation Era (Pre-Reconnection):
Avalon grows into a pan-galactic civilization. Magic is unknown. Technology flourishes. Colonial expansion reaches its peak.
  • The Gala Gonian War Begins:
Longstanding tensions erupt into an all-out war between the U.A. and the G.G.H., resulting in massive casualties and decades of attrition.
  • Reconnection by Octavius Athomath:
The Weave is reintroduced to Avalon. Magic surges back into the realm. Social, political, and spiritual chaos follows. Octavius is trapped during this time.
  • Post-Reconnection Period:
The U.A. struggles to incorporate magic while dealing with With Rebuilding post the Alagorian Civil War.

Cultural Identity

  • Philosophy:
“Build. Endure. Adapt.” Avalon champions resilience through action, invention, and ruthless problem-solving.
  • Reputation Across Realms:
Viewed with both awe and suspicion. Other realms see Avalon as dangerously unbound by traditional laws of magic or nature.

Geography

Avalon spans a galactic cluster of interconnected star systems, with Earth as the United Alliance's capital and High Garden serving as the seat of the Gala Gonian Hegemony. Terrain varies drastically depending on the planet, from the oceanic worlds of Caldraxis to the desert ridges of Korr-Xin. Interplanetary travel is standard, facilitated by Quantum Drive. Many worlds feature artificial ecosystems, terraformed to match human or Gala Gonian needs.

Ecosystem

Due to massive terraforming and colonization efforts during Avalon’s isolation period, many planets possess synthetic or hybrid ecosystems. Earth, despite centuries of urban sprawl, maintains controlled biodiversity through sanctuary domes and atmosphere-balancing towers. Gala Gonian systems often preserve brutal natural environments, believing harsh conditions cultivate strength. These environments range from irradiated rock plains to acidic swamps and crystalline highlands.

Climate

Climates are entirely planet-dependent. Earth maintains regional climate zones through climate regulation networks. Core human colonies employ weather modulators and orbital sun-mirrors. In contrast, Gala Gonian worlds often rely on unmodified, hostile climates as a measure of social toughness. Systems like Vixor Prime experience corrosive rains and heatwaves exceeding survivable human conditions without tech support.

Fauna & Flora

Many Avalonian species are synthetic hybrids, engineered for resilience or aesthetic utility. Earth hosts climate-modified species of trees, crops, and pollinators. Common examples include:

  • Lumifir Trees – Bioluminescent, oxygen-rich forests used in atmospheric renewal.
  • Strider Wolves – Domesticated predators used by frontier scouts.
  • Glowvine – A fast-growing bio-luminescent plant used in architecture.

Gala Gonian flora and fauna tend toward predatory and toxic biology. Apex beasts are often integrated into military doctrine. High Garden is home to:

  • Threshrakes – Reptilian flying predators used in Hegemony air raids.
  • Cindereels – Amphibious, heat-tolerant serpents native to lava river biomes.

History

Avalon existed for centuries cut off from the rest of the realms, evolving into a vast interstellar civilization without access to the Weave. Technological advancement drove both U.A. prosperity and military expansion. This led to the rise of the Gala Gonian Hegemony as a reactionary, religious counterforce.

The galactic war defined Avalon's last decade of isolation, erupting in countless system-scale battles. Octavius Athomath's arrival and the reconnection to the other 74 realms brought magic back to Avalon, destabilizing both factions. The resulting era has seen fragile integration of the Weave into Avalon’s structure, with both wonder and cultural backlash.

Tourism

Tourism in Avalon caters mostly to intra-realm travel. Earth and High Garden both host regulated tourist sectors, though travel between U.A. and G.G.H. territories is highly restricted. Points of interest include:

  • Unity Spire (Earth): A vertical arcology displaying humanity’s post-isolation history.
  • Black Sanctum (High Garden): A forbidden fortress-temple, open only to authorized observers.
  • Starseam Bridge: A kilometers-wide ring station orbiting a collapsed star, now repurposed as a trade and observation hub.

Hybrid tourism involving other realms is in development through Sapphire Empire liaison efforts, though magic-fueled travel within Avalon remains regulated under the Empire's control of the Leyline hubs.
