Water Melnil
Water Melnil are a unique subspecies of Melnil, split into two different types. Unlike the Mountain Melnil whose scales are determined by their childhood diet, the Water Melnil instead develop into one of their two distinctive types depending on their early diet instead. The two types are the Wyrmpaths and the Pathbinders. Combined for both of them, are the hoods that sits on the back of their heads, not unlike that of a cobra. These hoods indicate their status, with the Wyrmpaths having larger hoods.
They generally tend to prefer to live in ruins, much like the nagas that they resemble, as well as abandoned structures. They take over these places in part due to their general dislike towards outsiders, and once they occupy them, they tend to keep the ruins intact by repairing broken parts of them, while leaving as much of the original structure intact as they can.
Wyrmpaths
The Wyrmpaths have larger hoods than the Pathbinders, and the key trait for them is that where their legs would be, it instead extends into a long tail that they move on, much like a snake and it is where they gain their name from. They tend to be better at sneaking and have a more natural affinity with magic, but are more rare than the Pathbinders. Often they tend to have higher statues in their societies, especially in spiritual roles thanks to their magical affinity.Pathbinders
The Pathbinders have smaller hoods than the Wyrmpaths, and the key trait for them is that they do have a pair of legs, but that their tail remain long, similar to the Wyrmpaths. They tend to be more dexterous and acts as both scouts, engineers and the general laborers in society.
