Sand Melnil

Sand Melnil are a distinct type from the Mountain Melnil, mainly by virtue of having dragon blood within them. Named after the primary regions people find them in, the Sand Melnil are often characterized with having wings on their backs, longer dragon-like necks and an inherent affinity for the elements of their dragon blood. Though the blood also creates some instability, with the rare Sand Melnil being born with unusual quirks, appearances or abilities, which is thought to be a combination of their childhood adaption ability combined with the dragon blood.   Typically a Sand Melnil will have scale colors that fit their surroundings, with those living in sandy areas having similar coloration, while those living within forests and jungles are more prone to green colorations, not unlike the Forest Melnil.   The exact concentration of dragon blood within a Sand Melnil varies, but those who grow up close to dragons or their lairs are known to have bigger concentrations, something which scholars believe is due to the concentration of magic surrounding dragons.
