Beech Sadak

  Region: Mistmire swamp
Type: Rural Village
Inhabitants: Primarily Dragonborn
Known For: Rice farming, wetland agriculture, peaceful seclusion

Overview

Beech Sadak is a small, tranquil village tucked into the fertile wetlands north of Stonefell’s coastline and south of the Mistmire Swamp. Home primarily to dragonborn families, the village thrives on rice cultivation, root vegetable farming, and freshwater harvesting. Despite its isolation, Beech Sadak is known for its warm hospitality and strong community ties.   The houses are built on raised wooden stilts to avoid floodwaters during seasonal storms. Pathways of plank and packed earth wind through shallow marsh channels, where villagers wade with baskets or pole-boats to collect reeds, fish, and herbs. The village has no formal fortifications but relies on vigilance, tradition, and unity to protect its people.

Village Layout and Features

The Central Square: A humble communal space surrounded by merchant stalls, storage sheds, and a raised meeting platform. At its heart stands a modest statue of a golden dragon, symbolizing the endurance and spirit of the people.
Farms and Orchards: The outskirts are dominated by rice paddies, root crop rows, and groves of plum and fig trees. Irrigation channels and hand-dug dikes keep water moving through the land.
The Edge of the Swamps: Beech Sadak borders the southern rim of the Mistmire, providing access to fishing, medicinal herbs, and rare swamp flora. This border is lightly patrolled and treated with caution.

Leadership and Community

Celralan Nesskan: The village elder and community speaker, known for his calm leadership and protective instincts.
Emotol Nesskan: A former paladin, Emotol provides guidance and protection, though she holds no official title.
Villagers make decisions through open gatherings in the square, led by consensus rather than decree. Outsiders are welcomed cautiously but fairly.

Notable Residents

Umberoza Nesskan: Daughter of Celralan and Emotol. A gifted young mage with a secret heritage, known to have recently left the village under mysterious circumstances.

Tone and Culture

Beech Sadak values humility, family, and self-sufficiency. Magic is viewed with quiet reverence, and traditions are passed orally around fire pits or at planting festivals. While the people are not xenophobic, they are cautious with strangers — especially after recent incidents involving a black dragon near the swamps.
