Kurai
Born from Sheru’s corpse, Kurai is one of the two foundational gods of Kaigara. Before her physical form was shattered in her conflict with Yokubo, she could shape shift between the forms of a giant koi fish, a giant frog, a shark, or a sea dragon. When Humans came to Kaigara, she adopted the appearance of a plain middle aged woman of Mirevi heritage, with black hair, moon-like silver eyes, and midnight blue robes.
Kurai is the goddess of death, memory, wisdom, and water. After her rebirth, she took up the duty to maintain balance. She understands the need for all things to change. The young must become old, what is formed must crumble, and all that lives must one day die.
She never sought conflict with Yokubo, and never spoke ill of him, but she understood his nature and knew that eventually their peace would strain and break. When the day finally came, Kurai accepted the sacrifice she would have to make in order to keep Yokubo in check. She arrived at the peak of the tallest mountain, fully understanding she wouldn’t be leaving. The destruction of their physical bodies, also destroyed the mountain, creating the island of Wakeru , and splitting the continent in half.
Of the Kodomo, Kuma is her most trusted follower, but Touma takes up the second position, serving as the battlefield commander during the Transcendent War. Kikkyo, Kowasu, Himitsu, and Fukuro all chose to fight on her side. They also align with her philosophies.
