Glow Orb
While classified as a bomb due to its similar construction, the purpose of this litle orb is not to explode. It is a small glass orb about 5 cm across, filled with a number of small Sodalite crystals. These crystals are blue in appearance but when charged with mana, it will glow and give off a harsh, high contrast orange light.
The way this works is that inside the glass sphere is the sodalite crystals, and also a large amount of clear seed oil and quartz crystals that were ground to dust. Quartz is able to naturally absorb ambient Mana throughout the day while Sodalite can't.
When the orb is given a good shake (charging the orb directly with mana will work too), the mana will transfer to the sodalite crystals. These crystals will then glow bright orange at saturation for up to four hours. If someone isn't willing to charge the orb manually, this gives them four hours of light every day for essentially no investment because it will absorb any lost mana throughout the day.
Non-magical humans lacking a Mana Lung will often carry these spheres around. There also exists versions that are inside a wooden or brass casing (AN: same shape as a flashlight). Blinders or a black cap are placed on one end so the light can be turned on and off. Opening the end will let the light out, provided the device was shook earlier.
These glow orbs can also be charged with Aether, in which case it turns into an excellent source of temporary heat. Various Explorer's Guilds will actually recommend carrying several of these in case of emergencies as they can give off enough heat to burn exposed skin, making them excellent survival tools in cold environments.
Care should be taken to prevent the orb from reaching aetheric saturation. If this happens, the orb will expel all its mana and aether in a bright flash of light and heat that will blind anyone looking at it for several minutes. The sodalite crystals inside the orb will also turn transparent and become useless, making this a one time use item for this aspect.
