Town of Alleghe
Little more than a lakeside mining and manufacturing settlement until recently, the Town of Alleghe has seen itself at the forefront of the resistance against Remnant occupation since "Colonel" Remy Duciel and his Allegheny Irregulars set up residence in the nearby Alleghe Wilds.
Demographics
- The town is almost entirely a Human settlement, but accepts travelers of all types, provided they keep their noses clean and their hands from bein' sticky. Many human settlements on Ver Sayles are xenophobic, but this is not one of them.
- Full of miners, manufacturers, and craftspeople, there was a complete void where class-based friction would normally arise. Everyone was "in it together" in a place like Alleghe, as much out of necessity as kindness.
Government
- The town makes most decisions by democratic vote, including the election of their only public official, the "Sheriff." Inadequately named, the Sheriff delegates other residents as needed to aid in projects for the greater good, but only after giving the blessing of the town through vote. They are also responsible for upholding justice and maintaining order amongst the townsfolk, and keeping external threats away from the peaceful people of Alleghe.
- The Matthews family has been the "first family" of the town of Alleghe for at least six generations. Each successor has been elected to the job by their peers freely, with no noted instances of intimidation or vote tampering. When asked about the coincidence, fellow residents simply respond "they're good people, always raised to not get too big a head about 'em."
