The dragon Fratarron laid siege to the city of Shelmere in an attempt to claim its abundant treasure. When the city finally surrendered, Fratarron lost control of his army and they began to slaughter Shelmere's citizens. A supernatural event then occurred as the city was already quite haunted. Wraiths filled the streets, killing the remaining combatants and bystanders. As a result, the region is dangerously haunted. Several trade routes had to reroute.
