Languid Lake

A calm lake with an astounding volume of bugs, amphibians and other creepy crawlies.

A minor fey domain, this vibrant lake is dominated by the sound of winged insects and the frogs that eat them. It is governed by the Toad Prince, a minor archfey and ruler of the Hop Court.

Along with the Toad Prince, the lake is inhabited by three harengon warriors - Northspear, Westspear and Southspear, who patrol the southeast, north and west sides of the lake, respectively. They hunt snakes and birds, primarily, ensuring that the local fauna remain safe.

Geography

Languid Lake is only a small body of water - barely more than a large pond - surrounded by thick reeds and stagnant mud. At it's widest point, the lake is roughly thirty metres across; at its narrowest, just under twenty. The lake is fed by a few narrow brooks that trickle in from the bordering woodlands, though there is no visible outflow.

Climate

As a domain within the Feywild, the lake has weather that would be considered unnatural in the material plane. When there isn't a light drizzle, the air is thick and heavy with humidity. The weather never gets more severe than this, regardless of the current royal court.

Fauna & Flora

The vast majority of life around Languid Lake is small. Winged insects fill the air, dragonflies and damselflies dart about above the surface, frogs and newts lurk in the thick reeds, and a plethora of grubs, worms and other wiggling creatures are uncovered with the movement of just about anything.

The boggy nature of the surroundings is not suitable for many large trees - only a single, gnarled tree remains, inhabited by a tribe of pixies. The lake itself is thick with algae and lilies, while reeds blanket the entire area.
