King George Fergus DunBroch King (George) Gardam Krum Zwarogovic is the lord of Garagorm. Garagorm is a formidable fortress, located on the northeastern coast of Naghron overlooking the Thrakiot Channel. It was a crowded city of commerce and opportunity, perhaps the most prosperous and influential city on the eastern coast of Naghron.
Demographics
While humans are the most common race inhabiting the city, there are members of almost any other race found somewhere amongst the large crowds. Upon the founding of Garagorm and the Chiefdom, the population consisted of the native Goliath and Orcish tribes and the human vagrants from the Upper Folyavan Plain. Over the years, the human population grew as the city attracted more people, now being fairly diverse as a trade hub. Still, humans, half-orcs and Goliaths are the most common races.
Government
While the king ruled most of Fionmagh through local lairds, Garagorm was his personal domain, which he governed directly through his ducal court of trusted advisers centered within the Court of Enlightenment. When the king was traveling, the king appoint his trusted servant and old friend, Laird Navarch of Sea and War Bhaltair Guaire, as his seneschal. Defences
Garagorm maintained two separate armed forces, the Crowns Guard and the City Watch. The Crowns Guard served as Garagorm's soldiery and its members staffed garrisons, road patrols, and watchposts, and served as bodyguards and gate guards. The Watch was the local police force.
The landward side of Garagorm was protected by an 80 ft. (24 Meter) wall. The city was further protected by the Citadel of the Caer Cú Chulainn as well as three gates which were essentially castles themselves.
Industry & Trade
Although much of Fionmagh's trade enters the kingdom through the undisputed center of merchantry and maritime commerce, Garagrom's sister city, Merdun upon Greenspear, Garagrom is an economic giant in its own right. Having outsourced much of its maritime regulation and defense across the bay, Garagrom focuses its efforts on terrestrial goods. Its markets are not as robust as those found in Merdun, Ternosear, or Gaerod Pool and they are dwarfed by the capitals of commerce of the continent: Dralio and Djerad Sikta. Nevertheless, Garagrom's advantageous position at the mouth of Krol Goran's Bay has transformed it into an important trading city and the destination of many imported goods destined for homes and shops across east and northeastern Orogan.
Its main imports are wine, linen, spices, and foreign commodities like marble, gold, food, wine, etc. Cheese, grain, raw wool, livestock, and salt are among its primary exports. It sources its grain, wool, and livestock from the local farms of ___; its cheeses are aged in town and salt is pulled from the sea in large drying pools at the southern edge of ___Point.
Its main exports are basalt, granite, metal ore, and coal. It sources its earthen products from the legendary Mines of Tervel Atya beneath the city. Its purple-laced black Basalt is highly sought after due to its magical properties. Different veins of the rock are enchanted with various kinds of magic. Discerning students of the arcane--or equally determined geologists--can determine the enchantment based upon the color of the pulses in the rock.
A city of 212,000 or so, Garagorm is noted for its ___, ___, foundries, coal, iron, steel, weaponry, armor, metalwork, ____, information, and pottery. Garagorm's foundries turned out some of the finest weapons in Fionmagh.
Garagorm traded silver from ___ and timber from Gaerood Wood. It also had a good business in Goliath-made weapons.
The kingdom controls the vast mountain range in the northern portions of Orogan. These mountains provide precious and valuable metals such as silver, gold, and alegedly adamantine localy know as Voninsteel, as well as useful materials like coal, iron, tin, and copper.
The stone and metals taken out of the mines is worked by craftsmen. After being expertly cut and hewn, the stone is transported on floating barges magically at high cost to Gaerod pool, to then be transported south. Some buildings in Merdun, Ternosear, Zalhor and even Goldkrait Castle in Dralio used Garagorm stone, typically that which had been quarried from the areas to the west or south of the city
