Also known as the city of fire, Artif is technically three settlements, though all three do work as a single. Built towards the end of the Crisis of the Fey age, it became home to several displaced groups who built communities around the channel between the burning forest and the volcano just off the coast. The city would become a trade hub and site of industry, specialising in fire products.
The Triarchy
While Zumil protects the entire area, he rarely gets involved int he politics of it, leaving that to the 'mayors' of each area, meeting in a town hall on the edge of the Fire Town. The Fey and Fire towns have a ferry that travels between the two.
Fey town
The North side of the channel, in the burning forest itself, has become home to fey, dryads, elves and is the main place for visitors to come. While it is prserving of nature, unlike other fey towns it doesn't incorporate the forest in it's construction, instead building around the trees and low to the ground. Most buildings actually having a underfloor instead of a first floor. It is also built of wood and mudbrick.
The town has a more substantial section on dock platforms that include a two story inn and various warehouses. A market area sit between this 'dock' and the forest village. The area brings trade and tourism to Artif and is ruled by a Dryad Elder.
Fire Town
Built on the side of the active volcano, with tunnels going into it, fire town is home to the fire salamander's allowed to settle by Grunkle's Angels, though other fire based groups have moved in. This town also houses Zumil's palace.
The industrial area of Artif, fire town produces a host of metal worked and fire blessed items. A drydock on the east side of town also upgrades ships with
Emberwood, and is the mooring point for
Zumil's Wraith when it's not on mission. The area is ruled by an elected mayor.
Chanel town
In warm underwater tunnels under the volcano live a group of merfolk displaced from further south. Taking advantage of the uncharacteristically warm waters, they spent years using magic and architecture to make sure no accidental boiling's happen after losing half the group to such an incident in the first year.
The town is built using coral houses throughout the cave network and the sea floor of the channel. This produces most the food for Artif, with a plentiful supply of fish and underwater plants. Ruled over by a high priestess.
