Umbrana
A deep dive into the world of darkness
No sun, no moon, no stars in the sky. No fire, no Lightning, no fluorescent fungi on the lands. It is making Umbrana the darkest place you could imagine. Here in Umbrana, there is no natural light; it simply does not exist.
Umbrana is an infinitely large flat plane. elphroc is considered the center of this world because it surrounds the remains of the god Luceria. When Luceria breathed her last breath, her remains, known as Lucerian Stone, crashed onto Umbrana creating an enormous crater. Over time it filled up with water making it capable of sustaining life.
Before Luceria died she was the bringer of light creating a day-night cycle but now she died all light comes from her remains, Lucerian stone. This Lucerian stone is used to light up the civilized world. The God Luceria, the most ancient of all, fought in the great war of the gods, where she sacrificed herself in the battle of Elphroc. In an enormous explosion, Luceria died, and her remains fell down. A long time has passed since Luceria's sacrifice the crater her remains left behind. Everything you can think of can be found here, from great flatlands to enormous mountain ranges, deep ocean trenches, floating islands, Lucerian vulcanos, shining seas, and riverbeds. One would think there are endless possibilities in an infinite world, yet here in Umbrana, this might not hold. Because of the light, or the lack thereof, there are only a few places to live safely. One of these places is called Elphroc, named after one of its inhabitants, the Elph. Elphroc surrounds an ocean with Luceria's remains at its center. It is the largest area, bright enough for most animals and people to see. Going further out to the edges of the crater, the darker it will get. The people inhabiting Elphroc have little to no perception of day and night, weeks, months, and not even years because there is no reverence, such as a sun or moon. Time almost seems to stand still. There are ways to distinguish time through some plants and trees, but a day is a vague concept. While most people and animals live in the brighter areas of Umbrana, there are also creatures lurking in the darkness. Umbra's, As they are called, are the Apex-preditor of this world; no one who has encountered one of them lives to tell the tale. Not much is known about these creatures; they're dangerous and often do not leave a body behind. While the light emitted from Lucerian stone seems to dim over time, the Umbra is becoming more vital and ferocious. They push up toward the crater's center, driving the people to flee their homes, towns, and cities. It is only a matter of time before they even reach up to Gaf Themar.
