Union of Earth and her Colonies

The Union is divided between the Core Administration and Colonial Administration. The Core Administration is built up around the extremely urbanized sector in the Solar System, Being Earth, Mars, and Luna.

Core Administration

The Core Administration is charged with ensuring that security and prosperity is maintained. Most of the major industrial centers on these planets. According to Union propaganda those living here are the most prosperous in the Union. This is partially true, as most of the major corporations have their headquarters here, and most of the population works in huge factory complexes here. While management and higher ups, along with bureaucrats, politicians and other members of the elite live here comfortably, many of the laborers live in cramped apartment complexes in a massive urban sprawl.

Core Government

The Core Administration is overseen by a United Earth Congress, which is elected from specific Districts in the Core Administration. The United Earth Congress is charged with electing the Chancellor of the Union. The Chancellor of the Union is acts as the Executive. The Chancellor can be removed from office by a vote of no confidence from the Congress.

Colonial Administration

The Colonial Administration accounts for two thirds of the population and 80 percent of the territory of the Union. While some manufacturing occurs, most colonies are established for the extraction of minerals, and agricultural production. Most of these colonies are set up by Private Companies, or are built around military outposts. Each colony maintains a detachment of the Colonial Garrison, which is charged with internal security and acts as a gendarmerie, though they can act as the first line of defense against possible invasion. The Garrison is known for putting down strikes, taking out revolutionary cells, and preventing the disorder.

Colonial Government

It is overseen by the Colonial Commissioner, who is appointed by the Chancellor of the Union. The Colonial Commissioner is assisted in his duties by the Colonial Congress, which has representatives from elected from established colonies. The Colonial Congress can pass bills, but they must be approved by the Commissioner, and the Chancellor.

Great Solar War

The Union was established after the Third World War, also known by some as the Solar War. Many parts of Earth were glassed by nuclear fire, and so the shattered planetary governments that remained had to rely on their colonies on the Moon, Mars, and in the Asteroid Belt. Starting as the Coalition for Reconstruction, it was eventually decided by the leaders of the various nation states and colonial administrations that with earth mostly rehabilitated that their should be one governing body to prevent future wars, and to protect humans from new alien threats that had been discovered recently.
