Welcome to Ubuild
Welcome to UBuild!
Come weary kings, queens, consorts thieves brigands and overlords! Here you will find a vast expansive ruleset to create a kingdom and take over the world.Ubuild is a kingdom building TTRPG that is mostly designed for forum or chatroom-based RP. Primarily, it is designed to be played as a group of at least 3 players, but there is the potential to make it a singleplayer game as well (Rules for a singleplayer experience will be made one day!)
Ubuild is primarily designed after the Pathfinder 2e Kingmaker system, but has the potential to be added to any RPG that you desire. You can think of UBuild as more of a co-op worldbuilding game in those instances, and different modules will allow you to truly expand this capability to new limits, from the stone age to space age and beyond!
What is the goal?
You, your allies, and your game master as stated before, can use this as a co-op worldbuilding game. You can create your kingdoms, attempting to take over wide plots of land, do intrigue missions against your opponents, and maybe, just maybe, take over the world. The GM should set limits for the campaign they want to run, be it a number of kingdom phases, reaching specific objectives (such as taking over zones, planets or solar systems). This objective should be known by all parties before the campaign starts!
What you need to play
In an attempt to streamline this as much as possible, the entire rules for UBuild will be posted here on Worldanvil, and will always be public for clarity and ease of access. UBuild pimarily uses a D20, a D6 and a D8 for all of its rolls.Example Kingdom Sheet

Welcome
Hello traveler and welcome to UBuild! UBuild is a cooperative forum based worldbuilding experience through our discord, with a focus on the upbringing of individual adventurers into heroes, and an ever expanding colony building mini game. The central goal of UBuild is complete and total player freedom to change an entire world with reprecussions determined and enforced by your peers. You will find that the world is not fully explored or available. This is intentional, as part of your quest is adventuring, and finding new lands, and new experiences, or even discovering overlooked secrets in already explored lands.
You will find that not everything in the world is named upon entry. Those who explore will be able to name the areas they discover. Though political machinations, cities, other players, or even historicaly relevant actions on the server could even cause the name to change over time.
Finally, and most importantly, the world itself is not static. Each IRL week, there will be new events, new technologies to unlock, new buildings raised and new quests for adventurers to pick from at their settlement. The world itself starts in an age of stone tools, and basic technological capabilities, and the players themselves can drive the world into the space age, and potentially beyond.
Server Rules and Regulations
Now that you have created a character for UBuild, there are some important things to discuss regarding the server that must be understood as far as player interaction.- What the GM says is Final. If you do not like what the GMs final ruling is, talk to an admin or the GM outside of the current issue to discuss.
- The ruleset for characters is under the Pathfinder 2e Ruleset in case of conflicting arguements. In any case, the GMs ruling is final. Additionally, there is no need to be a rules lawyer, rule bending for a GM or admin is about administering fun, and allowing player agency. Not breaking the game.
- Any instance of using an underage character for explicit activities weither in private, or on the server will result in an immediate ban for all players involved. This is a zero tolerance policy.
- In a roleplay session, if you leave unannounced, the roleplay will be assumed to be completed after 20 minutes of inactivity, or, your character will be considered to have left. With an announced leave, this is increased to two hours, or, can be migrated to a private RP between the players involved.
- Metagaming: Unlike many roleplay servers, this server is founded on the belief that you should be rewarded for being an informed and skilled player. Your assumptions may be found incorrect about monsters and how they work. Metagaming is not about the monsters, instead it is about interactions between players. If you know that someone has passed a deception check against you, you must treat it as if your chacter does not know. That is the point of deception, and must be treated as such.
- Powergaming: Powergaming is the act of using your description of events to detail how an action happens for another character. Any source of powergaming is innappropriate, even from a GM. The exception to powergaming is when using enchantment, at which point it is up to the player afflicted, or the GM to act in regards to the spell, not the spellcaster.
- PVP:There is always an option for PVP in the game. However, PVP alone does not grant you experience. Unless consent is given by both players that they are willing to risk their characters life to fight the other player, under the watchful eye of a GM or Admin, the combat cannot result in a death of either player. If a player who previously agrees to a PVP with the potential for loss of life, and leaves without fair warning, they will be given 20 minutes to return to the combat, or will be killed. If they give warning, they have 24 hours to finish the combat with the other player, and must message the GM when they make their move. Should extenuating circumstances dictate that the player cannot participate, the PVP will be considered a draw, and ended, with acceptance from both players and the GM. A kingdom is always assumed to be in agreement for PVP, but must have a GM present for any and all instances of PVP. If a kingdom does not react to the declaration of PVP by a kingdom, it will be assumed that no additional action is taken under that kingdoms defence.
- The server is considered to be an 18+ server, however, those under 18 can, with express permission from a parent and/or guardian, be given access to the server, and will be given a special role detaling their age.
- Cursing, swears, bigotry and racism are acceptable only in character. Bigotry, racism, and hate speach towards other server members out of character will give an immediate 24 hour ban so that they can cool off. Bullying someone will have a week ban, and require a public appology to come back onto the server. These bans can be extended as neccessary.
- Regarding kingdoms, each player is allowed to own 1 kingdom, and 2 guilds and/or religions at any one time. If a guild or religion becomes a kingdom, they must give up control of their original kingdom, or give the guild/religion to another player.
- When running a kingdom, all sheets are due before 8pm PST every sunday. If this deadline is missed, your kingdom will perform all actions as noted on the previous kingdom phase submission. Events are delt with either immediately, or before the next kingdom phase. This shall continue until a kingdom gains 3 rebellions.
- You can create your own kingdom sheet by copying the block link here, or submit them over discord.Kingdom Phase submission example. If copying the block, give the GM the blocklink (EX: 940594) to allow them to quickly access your block. Make sure that the blocklink is public.
- There may be additional options for creating items and lore for the world, talk to your GM about possibilities for the potential for creating lore.
GM and Admin Code of Conduct
- The GM cannot, and shall never single out a player for retribution. They may still refuse to participate with an unfavorable player.
- A player may only be kicked out completely from the UBuild server if they have empiracle proof of the underage exploitation zero tolerancy policy, or, with unanimous agreement from the GM and Admins.
- If a GM or admin is found giving favoritism for a single player, all other players will recive the same benefits that the favorited player has recived. If the Admin or GM exploits this on purpose, they will be banned.
- It is the honor of a GM or admin to help players succeed in a task despite the odds. We work together to face challenges, not throw them on you for laughs.
- It is the duty of a GM or admin to inform them of positive benefits outside of their character sheet. It is the players duty to inform a GM of positive benefits on their character sheet.
- GM Ian Eiriksson is not allowed to make puzzles, but is allowed to have someone actually good at puzzles to make them for him to use.
Bans
There are three levels of bans based on the conduct involved. Bans are separated into three categories, and can be challenged by the player to the GM one time. Bans may be reduced if given a public appology, and acceptance by the community.24 Hour Ban: The player and all their characters are banned for 24 hours. Used primarily for hate speach, and unruly players who need to walk away from the game for a while.
Week Ban: The player and all their characters are banned for a duration of 1 week. They will still gain benefits for their settlements and kingdoms, however, they will be assumed vacant for these rolls.
Permaban: The player is no longer allowed to play in UBuild, settlements and kingdoms will be permanently vacant, and delt with in character.
World Guidelines
These rules are harder to pin on either the GM or the players, so these are just basic ground guidelines for server enjoyment.- The server is neither comedic or serious. However, lets not get too crazy with naming a town 'Towny mc town face' but to at least make it clever, for example 'Townsville Dale' is perfectly acceptable.
- The map is randomly generated, however, there will be opportunities for the players to change the map to their whims. Admins and GMs must all unanimously that a change is neccessary for a hex space in order for it to be changed. This includes quests with the potential to change a hex space, even if it does not happen.
- The player owns the rights to their character, and any artwork they create of their character. Playing on the server is an acceptance that their character will appear in other peoples artwork, and stories of their character. Nobody owns the map to the world, and are free to create their own copies. Lets be civilized about copyright protections and give credit for all artwork where it is due, as per world anvil TOS.
- Map changes can happen due to mistakes. Consider these 'cartography errors' from the original drawings.
- If something about the server makes you uncomfortable, or not feel safe, reach out to a GM or admin, we try to foster a safe environment. At the same time, remember that your character is trying to change the world, so think about if it is something you have the potential to change in character. Even if it takes generations to do so. The GM and admins are here to make you feel safe however, and if you don't feel safe, we need to figure out the issue ASAP.
- No ban is set in stone, and no rules outside of no tolerance policy is without exception. Talk to the GM or Admins about the rules if you have questions or concerns. If many people have questions or concerns about the rules, they may potentially be changed.

Author's Notes
A little background on favoritism from the owner of the UBuild worldanvil wiki. A big point of inspiration for this server, the rules, and how the community operates is based on a forum based RPG I participated in many years ago. I was invited by a friend, also the owner of the server, to participate in a kingdom building RPG, and asked if I would be willing to play as the dwarves of that world. I looked into it and was super thrilled to try it out. I created dwarves that were different from most other people, and even made entire legal systems that gained me applause and admiration from my fellow roleplayers.
One of the big things about the game was that it was freshly started with all the kingdoms in makeshift aliances with one another, and a freeform syle of roleplaying that was based on what you wrote, not what abilities that you had. Even with that, stats and magic were important in the game. Part of the game included that one empire, who was strangely very very strong, decided that they would go to war with my characters ally, who also happened to be his neighbor.
My neighbor was a friend, and he believed that all hope was lost. Based on the layout of his city, his lower count of troops, and high reliability on magic, he asked me if I thought I could win a battle against 1-10 odds against the people marching down on his front door. Knowing this layout, I accepted, and was given permission by my friend (the server owner) to run the combat for them. The cost of the battle was well known. If I failed, my neighbors character would die, and all of us accepted this risk.
What I was not aware of at the time, was the favoratism for the attacker against the kingdom by the server owner. She did indeed outnumber the kingdom I was defending ten to one. I was aware of this beforehand, but my tactics were sound. What I didn't anticipate was the "random effects" of the battle that were suspiciously against my favor... at every turn. The king can cast a major spell to take down a siege tower that is about to be at the building? Well the people they were about to kill are struck by lightning. An assault from behind the city on the waterways for a port town? Well we should send out our own ships which outnumber them three to one against them, and perform a flanking position! Aparently not as a sudden typhoon comes up and destroys the entirity of my fleet while my opponents people were untouched. No, they didn't use magic, it just 'happened.'
Above all, the one that really irked me enough to quit the server, was when I said, "Ok, my soldiers see that the typhoon is coming, and they need to defend the wall set up against the port, and prevent people from invading."
"Oh, you don't have any walls inside the city or against the port."
"But you told me I have full walls..."
"Yeah but they end at the waterline."
So you have a giant city, against a port, with no defense on 1/4 of the entire city, and nothing preventing people from reaching the palace, because the owner of the server was trying to get into the pants of a power gamer? This might seem petty for some people at a glance, but that was a final straw for me for the server and I immediately quit after stating, "There is no possible way of winning without 1/4 of the defenses I was promised. Game is over." Myself, and a handful of people immediately left the server after recognizing the obvious favoratism with the owner, and I promised never to let such a thing happen if I opened a server of my own.
All of this just a longwinded way of me saying that there will be NO favoratism in the server, and if there is favoratism, bring it to my attention immediately. There will be a public appology, may be a demotion of an admin, and the issue will be fixed immediately.
Please feel free to comment on any page throughout UBuild, and note that even the world name could be changed based on player feedback. I truly care for the community I build, and hope that you will grow to care for it as well.
