Wandebirge

Bergainen Pass

Bergainen is a mountain pass in the Wandebirge mountains that formed much of the basis of trade and aid between Azendale and Herske. The pass is approximately 1200 feet lower than the surrounding peaks and several hundred feet lower than most of the lower peaks near the extent of the range.

The Wandebirge are, at their peaks, under at least a foot of snow yearround. In the middle of the mountains, temperatures rarely raise much above the mid-50s and the bases are often cooled by the winds coming off the mountains and are not considered to have summer as such.

The Wandebirge mountain range has a vast supply of Krenzin and large veins of useful metals, though valuables such as gold or silver are relatively scarce.

The Wandebirge was created when Vulkan and his sister Thanandar did battle on the mortal plane in their diefic youths. It was created in the third battle between the two as Vulkan sent Thanandar to Baladen.

The Wandebirge served as a barrier which prevented Herske from expanding southward for many centuries due to their rather unforgiving terrain. The mountain range also gave Azendale the upper hand in its run for independence.
