Sangrin qal-Kandra
Sangrin qal-Kandra is the current king of Kandairad and husband to Jaroka qala-Kandra. in Meheris of 589, he was subject to an assassination attempt by a mysterious mage now known as the fire-witch "Mar-saliria". This attack has left him scarred, deformed, and on the brink of death. While the court mages and leashed ones were able to preserve the king through unknown means, he remains unresponsive and in a mindless state. As he is unfit to rule, his wife, Jaroka, took the power as acting queen. Her first action as queen was ordering the execution of all the court mages responsible for saving her husband and disbanding the mages' guild.
Before he retired, he fathered two sons, the older one however did not survive past the age of three, dying of poison. This was later retroactively blamed on the mages' guild by the queen. Rumors indicate the boy had learning disabilities, and the queen's political opponents claim the poisoning was her own doing. The second son, Khelin qal-Kandra, is now three himself and in good health.
Sangrin qal-Kandra's pension for red finery as well as the method of his apparent demise has lent him the nickname the "King in Crimson".
