Callista Weisz

(a.k.a. Adelaide Parallax)

We don't need Charlie. We never needed Charlie. He needed us. We'll go to Vegas as Adelaide. I've already booked us a gig."
— Callista to her twin, Coralie

Mental Trauma

Tell me a little about what it's like to be a twin.

It's complicated, being a twin. Looking into your own face like looking into a mirror but knowing it's not you. Seeing yourself in someone else's face, in their smile, in their eyes.

And in their words and thoughts and movements.

It's everything you love about yourself diminished by everything you hate about yourself embodied in an exterior vessel. Not even a clone but a missing part of yourself that was divided from you. A portion of yourself that was stolen and given to a stranger who is you.

Sibling rivalry: Charlie

The Weisz household was ruled through the iron claw of their perfectionist mother, whose cruelty was boundless. This abuse carried down through the children as Charles Weisz learned to transform helplessness into power over his baby sisters.

Callista was always at odds with Charlie's bullying. She resented him for not standing up for them, for not protecting them from the cruelties of the adults and the world around them.

A long string of illusions gone awry carved permanent scars across both her mind and her body. Resentment bloomed into hatred when his lack of care became active endangerment.

Morality & Philosophy

Murder by numbers, 1-2-3

There comes a point where you have to say enough is enough.

Charlie was never one to take no for an answer. So when he crept into my bedroom that night and found me awake, holding Daddy's pistol...

I'll never forget the anger in his eyes. I wanted him to be afraid, I had pictured him being afraid. In my mind, yanno? Whenever I laid there thinking about what he did. During. After. Didn't matter, there was the point when it was all I could think about.

Enough was enough.

He took a step.

I pulled the trigger.

Social

Family Ties

Callista's had Coralie wrapped around her finger since 11 minutes after Callista was born.

From the time they could walk, fierce Callista became gentle Coralie's protector.

And boss.

It's my job to keep you safe. It's your job to steal the cookies.
— Callista, age 7
