Characteristics
Mental traits
Sardior possesses non-verbal intelligence. It thinks only in images and only has the base emotions of an animal. Its communication is telepathic, expressing its will with imagery and emotional impressions. Often it is difficult to determine its exact motives and aims, as the images often have no context, leaving the guesswork entirely in the hands of those who receive the impressions.
History
Elegy of the First World
According to the ancient draconic myth Elegy for the First World, Sardior was the first creation of Bahamut and Feth'razaal, a dragon unlike either of its creators. With a slender form and glistening ruby scales, Sardior embodied an otherworldly beauty and majesty. As the inaugural creation of the dragon gods, Sardior was both immensely powerful and deeply cherished by its divine progenitors.
With Sardior’s guidance, countless other dragons came into being. Yet, none could rival his uniqueness. During the era of proto-dragons—a
Time when dragons possessed limited intellect but already wielded extraordinary power—Sardior stood apart. He was revered as a god alongside Bahamut and Feth'razaal, embodying wisdom and strength unmatched by his kin.
Dawn war
When the primordials waged war against the gods for altering their world, Sardior emerged as one of the bravest warriors among his brothers and sisters.
During these battles, Sardior was afflicted by a strange and malevolent force—an elemental disease that began to spread among the proto-dragons. This insidious corruption induced a hunger for draconic flesh, turning them into cannibalistic savages, stripped of reason and consumed by primal hunger. Sardior, as the first bearer of this affliction, underwent a grotesque transformation.
He became a titan—an ancient being infused with the power of the primordials. When the primordials were ultimately banished to the Elemental Planes, the titans remained behind, bound to the Material Plane.
Dawn of the Dragon Gods
Unlike others, Sardior’s unique constitution allowed him to grow stronger with each sibling he consumed. With every dragon devoured, their power merged into a seething reservoir of fiery elemental energy within him, fueling his monstrous evolution. Sardior became a nightmare for his kind, a predator of dragons whose insatiable hunger left devastation in his wake.
Sardior's immense size and power posed a significant threat to dragonkind. Under the leadership of the dragon Talonixa, the dragons began to plot against him. While many advocated for direct confrontation with the now colossal and formidable Sardior, others, like Ysera, believed that diplomacy and discussion were still viable options.
Conversely, some dragons viewed Sardior's transformation as a return to primal instincts—a natural evolution of dragonkind driven by an innate desire for power. As Ysera advocated for peace, suggesting that coexistence was possible, these dragons saw an opportunity and betrayed Talonixa, aligning themselves with Sardior. Sardior devoured them all, growing bigger and stronger. Despite the overwhelming odds, the dragons banded together, forming an army to combat Sardior and his growing threat.
Bahamut and Feth'razaal grieving over the fate of their cherished first creation, found themselves unable to destroy him as they were too emotionally attached.
In due time, Malygos found his way to Alexstrasza and Ysera. Malygos afflicted by the disease briefly succumbed to the hunger for flesh, attacked Ysera. However, thanks to Alexstrasza's intervention, Ysera managed to snap Malygos out of his frenzy. Subsequently, Malygos was cured through direct intervention by Bahamut, who bestowed upon him a blessing against the disease.
Alexstrasza, Ysera and Malygos joined with Nozdormu and Neltharion, two other powerful dragon, to hunt Sardior once and for all. Forcing him to retreat in a cavern were all five dragon, except for Ysera, began the battle against Sardior, who had grown larger and even more mutated than before.
With a flap of wings, Sardior called up a massive wind that scattered the fighters. Ysera suddenly appeared and Sardior attempted to devour her, but Neltharion silenced his laughter with a mighty blow, pulled Sardior to the ground and began to mercilessly beat him even as Sardior began mutating further.
In the battle, Sardior ripped Neltharion lower jaw, Malygos moved to save him, examining the bloody mess as Sardior roared in triumph and grew ever larger. This bolstered the fighter, that, in a final attempt to protect everything they held dear, and blessed by the two dragon gods, banished Sardior into the void.
After such a feat, the five dragons were blessed with godly power and agreed to protect Toriel. By channeling the power of the three dragon gods, they were able to ascend to godhood themselves.
Last creation
When Sardior was banished to the Void, his tail was cast into the caverns of the Feywild, known as the Feydark instead. The ruby scales that once adorned his body scattered across the dark, twisting tunnels. Infused with elemental power and draconic might, these gemstones remained there for millennia, slowly transformed by the strange magic of the Feywild. Over time, the once-inanimate rubies became sentient, giving rise to the gnomes.
