Giants' Domain

In the northern reaches of Elysium lies the Giants’ Domain, a land of towering mountains and deep fjords shaped for beings the size of fortresses. It is ruled jointly by Stronmaus, god of the forge and thunder, and Skoraeus Stonebones, god of art and stone. Here, pine forests rise like cathedral spires, snow crowns the peaks year-round, and the sound of Stronmaus’ hammer rolls across the land like distant storms. Beneath the mountains, Skoraeus’ halls hold the carved history of giantkind — a saga of creation, war, and gods set in stone.

Description

The Giants' Domain of Elysium lies between snow-laden peaks and deep fjords, where the air is sharp with winter and the wind smells of cold iron. It is the shared realm of Stronmaus, god of craftsmanship, forge, and thunder, and Skoraeus Stonebones, god of art and stone. Everything here is built for giants — the pine trees rise higher than mortal castles, stones are the size of ships, and the smallest drinking horns could serve as bathtubs for a Human.   The landscape is carved by ice and Time: sheer cliffs plunge into narrow fjords, while mountains split open to reveal vast caverns. In the long dark of winter, the aurora dances across the night sky, its light lightning off snowfields and frozen seas.   Skoraeus’ presence runs deep beneath the mountains. His halls are carved into vast chambers where the walls themselves are sculptures — reliefs telling the history of giantkind: the rise of their empires, their war against the titans, the cursing of the ogres, and their long struggle against the dragons.

Thunder Forge

The Thunder Forge is Stronmaus’ hall and workshop, carved high into the spine of the Stormspine Mountains. Its arched doors are black steel slabs taller than castle gates, engraved with knotwork storms and the names of the forge’s greatest works.   Inside, the chamber glows with the light of molten metal flowing through channels cut into the floor. At its heart stands the Anvil of the Skyfather, a block of star-iron the size of a cottage. Stronmaus works here with bare hands, his every strike shaking the peaks and calling thunder from the sky. Each blow sends lightning through the chimney-tower above, flashing across the whole fjord.   Since the god abandoned his old forge in the Ice-peak Concord, the Thunder Forge has become the sole place where the most powerful divine arms are crafted. Many artifacts commanded by other gods — and nearly all weapons of legend in Giant history — were born here. Some can only be unmade in the same forge that birthed them, quenched in its molten heart under the hammer of Stronmaus himself.   Access to the Thunder Forge is strictly guarded. Even most giants see its doors only once in their lives, and mortals are rarely allowed within unless bound to a task by divine will.

Features

Giant-Scale. All terrain, tools, and structures are built for beings forty feet tall. Even climbing a chair can be a challenge for mortals.

Hazard

Thunder Strikes. When Stronmaus works, the rolling thunder can trigger avalanches. Lightning may strike metal objects in the open.   Stone Warden Statues. Some of Skoraeus’ sculptures are guardians that awaken if intruders attempt to deface or steal from his halls.   Extreme Cold. A creature exposed to the extreme cold must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw at the end of each hour or gain 1 Exhaustion level. Creatures that have Resistance or Immunity to Cold damage automatically succeed on the save.   Frigid Water. A creature can be immersed in frigid water for a number of minutes equal to its Constitution score before suffering any ill effects. Each additional minute spent in frigid water requires the creature to succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or gain 1 Exhaustion level. Creatures with Resistance or Immunity to Cold damage automatically succeed on the save, as do creatures that are naturally adapted to living in ice-cold water.
