Rumas Bagdonas
One of the largest and most elaborate Rumas in the Sun Moon District is Rumas Bagdonas, the ancestral home of the Prosekik- Bagdonas family, the most ascendant branch of that powerful human family. Present occupants include Dame Natasha Bagdonas Prosekik, her daughter (when she is not resident at TPA, where she attends) and various nieces, nephews and cousins
Purpose / Function
Rumas Bagdonas is one of the grand rumas located in the Sun Moon District. It is the principle residence of the head of the Bagdonas Family, though the family has several rumas throughout the city. Rumas Bagdonas is the largest and most elaborate of these residences.
Design
Rumas Bagdonas is a six story structure with two wings built on the Bagdonas Canal. It is primarily built of red brick with a white stone facade on its canal side.
Its water level (Ground Floor) has a vast entrance hall with access to the Bagdonas Canal containing a dock for private craft which leads into a water-level central hall. there are also storage rooms on this level, kitchens, servants quarters. An open grand staircase leads up to the third level, while several closed staircases lead to the mezzanine above.
On the Mezzanine above this level are the offices of the estate manager, small apartments for upper level servants, and a few guest apartments (for technical and working professional guests, such as contractors.)
The Main Floor contains the main ballroom, 120 ft long and 50 ft wide. The grand salon, reception rooms, bedrooms, studies, waiting rooms, the formal dining hall, shrine, in this case to Cassia, and the library. It is joined directly to the Ground Floor by the grand staircase and to the Mezzanine by many enclosed staircases.
The Second Floor contains additional bedrooms, studies, waiting rooms, the family dining room, and two private libraries, as well as Dame Sasha's offices.
The Second Mezzanine contains additional servants quarters and storage rooms. small contained staircases go both up and down.
The Third Floor contains smaller apartments and honored guest bedrooms. It is where most of the remote family stays or lives.
An attic exists over all. Unlike most Toresta buildings the rumas is not flat roofed. This level contains low-ceiling storage, drying rooms, and various small nooks and corners.

Sensory & Appearance
Rooms within the rumas typically have large windows providing adequate lighting. All of the rooms are lite with everlasting lanterns at night, a testament to the wealth of the Bagdonas family. No less than 60 servants are employed to maintaining the home, including everything from kitchen staff to boat handlers, so the passing to and fro of workers on their appointed tasks is a common sight, and the rushing of feet on the marble floors an expected sound all day and even into the night.
The smell of numerous fireplaces, even in Toresta's mild winters permeates the public rooms. More generally arcane boilers, shard powered, service an extensive heating system, making even the servants quarters cosy.
Denizens
The Bagdonas employ workers of a multitude of species. Besides humans, gnomes and halflings, there are a few goliaths, dwarves and even an air genasi. Several of the servants rooms have been renovated for these workers, a sign of Dame Sasha's and her late husband's graditude and respect for their faithful service.
Contents & Furnishings
Rumas Bagdonas contains the finest furnishings, many from Aerusia and North Icarema , some purchased from importers, but many pieces bought and transported by not just Aleksy Prosekik during his privateer days, but by other Bagdonas sailing captains over the family's long history. A few pieces herald back to the early days of Toresta's trading days.
The libraries contain books from the world over, most in common but a few in the original tongues of various species. Dame Sasha is said to have an extensive library of arcane writings, many from historic Bagdonas mages, as magic runs strong in the family.
Architecture
Rumas Bagdonas was designed and built by the Torestain architect Leszek Giedroyc and there are several other rumas in the Sun Moon district of similar layout. The building is constructed primarily of Toresta red brick, with a white stone facade on its southern canal facing side. Balconies on the Main and Second floor give views to the Bagdonas Canal, outlined by columns and stone railing. Large glass doors with rounded arch frames give access to the balconies. The wide open arch entrance to the vast arch ceiling entrance hall, its framing stones decorated with decorative roundels emblazoned with the Bagdonas crest.
Defenses
Defenses are primarily arcane, although a small force of fighters and mages are employed to keep order.
History
Constructed in the sixth century by the Torestian architect Leszek Giedroyc, the building has housed many generations of Bagdonas family leaders, and is one of thirteen properties owned by the family within the city, although it is the largest and most lavish.
