Rumas

A rumas is a large building, principally constructed as a residence. In Toresta a rumas is particularly a private nobel residence built along a canal. It always has direct water access.

Almost all rumas are owned by members of the Founding Families. Each was built by a member of that family for the expressed purpose displaying their wealth and power, while also serving as the headquarters for the families trading and industrial empire.

Rumas do not have wall and gates or other mundane fortifications. They are typically protected by some form of arcane protection, be it arcane locks, wards or alarms. Most have a small contingent of armed fighting men and a mage or two tasked with protecting them.

Rumas are typically between three and six stories in height, with distinctive architectural features that differentiate them from other structures in Torests
