The invasion of the mighty Temuj hordes lead to the loss of a great deal of Imperial Territory, though much of it was of minimal strategic value.
The Prophet Al'Mudin was martyred after his preaching against the gods of the Empire reached the ears of a local imperial legate. He was burned at the stake on the Burned Rock, within sight of the fortress of Caer Luen.
Facing invasion on two fronts, a still-insurgent civil war, and a massive revolt in the north, the Marcher lords issued an ultimatum: they would only continue to support the war against the Temuj in exchange for major concessions, particularly with regards to taxation. The Empire was forced to accept.

The final defeat of the Temuj horde spelled the end of the Temuj invasion, but the southern plains of Bolar would never again return to the Reymal Empire.

In order to win the civil war, the House Revane turned to the vast manpower of and resources of the Imperial Marches. These did not come without strings attached, and the Marches began to function nearly independently of the greater empire.
