Caer Luen
Purpose / Function
Caer Luen is a massive fortress complex in the midst of Seleans. It serves both as the citadel of that city, and as the palace of the Kings and Queens of Aerluen, the land which bares its name.
Alterations
Over the years, Caer Luen has expanded from a simple fortress on the River Aer, to a massive citadel. New walls were added, palaces for the mighty rulers of Caerluen, and the city of Seleans grew around it.
Architecture
The oldest foundations of the fortress were done in the Old Reymal Style, with many columns and colonnades, and scarcely any artistic innovation of the past millennium has passed it by since then. The Old Keep was originally done in limestone, though it has since been heavily reinforced. Newer palaces are done in Marble and Wood, but the complex as a whole has never lost sight of its central goal-to remain the greatest Fortress on the River Aer, and to serve as the seat of the power and the defense of that land.
History
Caer Luen has been a settled site for millenia at least, with some fortresses existing there even during the original Reymal invasion. After the Northern Rebellion, it became the seat of a new nation that bore its name, one within the sight of and closely related to the center of the Church of Kol.
