Personal history

Ennmeg was hatched in the mid-56th century by a group of bandits who had stumbled upon her egg in an ancient treasure horde. She grew, and, one day, having realized the danger her captors posed to their fellow sophonts, she departed from them, warning them to never participate in brigandry again, or else face her wrath. Of course, many of them failed to heed her warning, and were subsequently slain by her in the following years.   Ennmeg took up residence in the driest parts of Paraib, then still mostly steppe. After growing curious about the ways of the Temuri  nomads near her, she elected to follow them and watch them. This continued for several hundred years, with the Temuj coming to revere her as an avatar of  Tanri, their sky god.

According to the legends of the Temuri, when much of the steppe dried  , two triplet young men came to Ennmeg-ka-Tanri, and asked her what lay beyond the great mountains that enclosed the drying steppe. This, the dragon did not know, for, in the hundreds of years of her life, she had never had occasion to venture beyond the steppe, being content to observe the men and dwarves and cattle and ruins that scattered that vast expanse. Ennmeg flew higher than she had ever flown, and went first to the north. There lay ceaseless mountains and snow--no land for the Temuj. She then flew to the east, where there lay a vast sea and a great plain. Though full of strange creatures, this would indeed be a land for the Temuj. But, alas, this land could not support all the Temuj. She flew then to the south, and found only fire and ash and death as of hell. Last of all, she flew to the west, and found another bounteous steppe, whose people labored under the oppressive hand of evil rulers. This, too, could be a land for the Temuj.   After many moons, she returned to the brothers, and told them of what she had seen. The brothers discussed and debated, but it became clear that not all their people could migrate to one side or to the other, nor could they stay. They cast lots, and it was decided that the youngest brother would take one in six men and their families with him, and cross into the west. The eldest brother would remain in the Paraib with half their people. The rest would head to the apparent paradise that awaited to the east.   The youngest man was named Timuradh , and his was the better portion.   Ennmeg followed Timuradh and his clans to the west. While at first reluctant to assist them in their conquest, Timuradh appealed to her conscience, revealing to her the oppression wrought by the rulers of this land against most of its inhabitants. Instead, Timuradh declared, he would forge a new land, where man and centaur, Reymic, and Tarane, and Temuj, all could ride and herd their sheep, and raise their children in peace. Moved by his vision, Ennmeg assisted them in their war, but commanded they stop at the great river, and conquer no further. She seized and took up residence in a fortress in the hills, and ever after it, and the city that grew around it, were known as the Dragonhold.   In the following moons, not all warriors heeded her warning, and so were destroyed attempting to cross into the Imperial Marches. With her prophetic word confirmed, the boundaries of the new kingdom were set. A kingdom for all the plains-for the Bolar. She took up her residence, then, in the Dragonhold.   She was among the first converts to Kolism when [St. Anja] came to preach to the Bolar.   Some centuries later, mysterious dreams led her to command her subjects to excavate deep beneath the fortress. Many thought she had gone mad, but those whose fathers had told them of her wisdom trusted, and dug. After some time, the excavators broke into a hidden chamber deep beneath the Dragonhold. Here lay a treasure horde greater than any they could have imagined--and chained up, suspended above it, unable to touch it, was a great silver wyrm, Kharsadu.   Kharsadu was freed, of course, and in the course of time, the two were married, and have since reigned over the Dragonhold with justice and fairness.
