Kingdom of Polsk

The Kingdom of Polsk is a human feudal kingdom that was formed when a tribal chieftain named Boleslaw of the Zaslawski tribe conquered and assimilated the other Polski tribes. Boleslaw’s tribe was from the central grasslands along the Silny River. The fertile soil of this land caused the Zaslawski tribe to become the largest and most prosperous tribe. When Boleslaw became the chieftain of the Zaslawski tribe, he had the goal of uniting the tribes of the region to strengthen the region as a whole and succeeded in this goal after a two decade long campaign of conquest and diplomacy.   Boleslaw declared himself as Boleslaw I, the first king of the brand new Kingdom of Polsk. To appease the chieftains of the tribes he conquered, he divided the kingdom into twelve voivodeships, each of which was ruled be a Voivode, and made each chief who pledged loyalty to him a Voivode of the voivodeship of their traditional lands. Boleslaw I ruled the Kingdom of Polk for many years before his death. After his death, he became known as Boleslaw the Great.

Structure

The king is the leader of the Kingdom of Polsk and rules over the land with a large degree of control. The king's power is only checked by the power of the twelve viovodes who each rule a voivodeships.   The viovodes were originally the chiefs of the twelve most powerful tribes that Boleslaw conquered or made diplomatic pacts with. At first the viovodes ruled their viovodeships as tribes, but quickly moved towards a more feudal arrangement with those they ruled over.

Demography and Population

The population of Polsk is primarily humans of Polski decent. There are a smattering of dwarves, gnomes, and halflings due to the proximity to the dwarven kingdoms of Kuzad-Blavik, Krusvo-Mevta, and Kuzad-Jarna and the halfling nation the Richlands. There are also small populations of Miskunasian, Grimstaler, and Zhekovian ethnicities.
