Watch Bug
A type of Harkas purposed organism designed for an espionage role that uses legs for locomotion.
They are meant to fill a similar role as the hadron robots used by the technological star nations of the Hyperion Federation, though the organic variant is far less expensive and far less effective, which allows them to fill many more roles than Hadron Robots, which are still given the hardest and most important missions. As they are quite small and buglike, they might be able to hide their tracks simply by behaving as a typical bug, but that will not always work so the Unified Arkan Council UAC have taken great measures in allowing them to cloak. Their small size also allows them to reach some small places such as air vents much more easily.
Watch bugs often have a thin carapace for protection which can allow them to withstand some minor impacts more easily. If they are squished, they might light themselves on fire because the very small quantity of antimatter that remains in their body is released, which annihilates and releases enough energy to cause a small fire. This also makes them nearly impossible to dissect, as they can release the antimatter at any moment.
All cells of the watch bugs can make themselves transparent with a very low refractive index, which can allow the entire creature to hide itself from almost all light wavelengths. This reaction is triggered by a specific chemical that the brain can release when it needs to cloak. This process, as well as the reverse process, take several minutes to complete, each. This process can be difficult for the bug to initiate and maintain as it takes a significant strain on its body, giving it far less stamina for further exploration. Its eyes will never cloak however, as that would render them unable to operate and blind the creature. Its eyes are very small and difficult to notice though, so its unlikely to be seen. Watch bugs will still try and remain out of sight if cloaked. They cannot hide their heat signature, but that is less likely to be a problem for a buglike creature.
By using a gland which can act similar to a QEC machine, they can relay thoughts back to the HF instantly, which can include all of the creature's senses.
Watch bugs obtain nutrients from bathing in a liquid which allow them to grow as needed. Larvae spend most of their lives in this highly nutrient rich fluid until they grow enough to take on the normal watch bug appearance and become capable of performing the role of their purpose. Watch bugs can digest this fluid by taking it in through their respiratory system which also infuses the blood with the necessary nutrients. This will cut off air circulation if done for too long, so they would need to release it to breathe normally shortly after. The fluids are likely to be present in some other types of purposed organisms designed to grow these bugs.
Like almost all purposed organisms, they do not reproduce on their own. The harki will create more watch bug larvae when they need more, taking into account that it takes years for them to grow to adult size.
