Taralas V

A planet in the Taralas System, orbiting a black hole which itself orbits the Zeta Halanet System star.   Of all planets in the system, Taralas V has the highest population. The Hyperion Federation has terraformed it, making the planet habitable through the use of large stations that emit sunlight-like radiation. Sometimes, the black hole or dark matter star are visible at night. In these cases, the surface is still easily visible as they emit a small amount of light. The dark matter star emits mostly antimatter and gamma radiation, both of which are dangerous to most organic life. The Hyperion Federation has constructed all buildings on the planet with thick sheets designed to block gamma radiation and antimatter annihilates with the atmosphere. It is thus discouraged to be outside when Zeta Halanet is in the sky. It can be hard to tell as it can be hard to see despite it's immense size. Their culture has accepted that the broadcasts that the HSA releases in relation to the star are to be obeyed. They place these types of posts in many locations outside, often in bright colours. Everyone is made aware that this can happen at any time, during the day or night.   Although the HF has placed special protection on every other planet in the system, they have allowed this planet to be inhabited as much less information was obtainable than on other planets. Before being terraformed, it was a near-featureless barren world. They have extracted magnetic monopoles from the planet, which probably formed under the intense conditions of the supernova, but as they are such a valuable resource the HF actively avoid heavy exploitation of the resources in order to preserve them for longer.
