Narlas System
Star system that lies within the Klansar galaxy. The home system of the Walgar species, and the Eparan Covenant .
Narlas is an F class main sequence star with a very hot colour temperature which makes it appear almost white, though with a significant shade of blue. The system is well defended, as it features a homeworld, with a large number of defence platforms which constantly search nearby space for stealth enemies such as Subspatial Starships and Cloaking Devices. Many species are afraid of the Eparan religion as their psionic ability is so poorly understood, which made the walgar somewhat xenophobic. Despite this they try to prevent armed conflict through diplomacy because an excellent way to not be invaded is to establish as many allies and as few enemies as possible.
The Narlas system is quite large and has many resources, allowing the aquatic eparans to more rapidly establish strong space infrastructure, and securing their species a place among the stars. Positioned quite close to the edge of one of the galactic arms, and therefore quite close to a different arm, the Eparan Covenant was quite quick to find that some of their territory has a very low stellar density, and other sectors have a much higher stellar density. The Covenant tend to build a defensive perimeter around their territory regardless, each star system having roughly the same total defence strength, though with a number of fortress systems located in strategic positions around their map. The Narlas system acts as one such fortress, though deep within Eparan territory, supplying a large amount of other Eparan star systems with various materials and generally making logistics easier.
Due to the potentially highly valuable information in the Walgar's psionic abilities, the Narlas system is the subject of much enemy espionage. This is particularly hard to defend against without advanced decloaking or subspatial starship detection machines. The Eparan Covenant is a fairly low tech faction but they have expended a lot of resources on this system in attempts to counter them with advanced stealth ship detectors, though they can still have trouble detecting some HF starships. The Eparan Covenant knows about the espionage and as such they try not to put too many military assets into the system despite it being a fortress system. Some factions might even want to fight the Eparan Covenant for this information, but the other factions would know that such a war would be expensive because no other faction has developed counters to the Walgar psionic abilities.
